I stared into his blue eyes, hypnotized, and I remained frozen even when he finally approached me and his hand touched my cheek. I managed to inhale deeply, breathing in his scent. It was unbelievable, the effect this man had on me. I tried my hardest to act unaffected but failed miserably when he curled his hand till his knuckles replaced his palm and brushed them gently across my cheeks. I could feel the flush spread across my face like a burn. Then his hand reached my bottom lip and his gaze dropped to the quivering flesh. With the smooth pad of his thumb, he pulled my bottom lip down, then he let it go, watching it bounce back into place with a curious expression on his face. Slowly, his gaze returned to mine. ‘Touch me more, kiss me, play with my body.’ My mind pleaded, but I was still sane enough not to say it out loud. My hands were aching with a desperate need to grab Emmett and kiss him. So, I clenched them into fists by my side, aching with the need to either push h

Heat engulfed me from the tips of my toes to the crown of my head. I crushed myself to his body as I felt my spirit lift just an inch further out of my body. “Wow!” I gasped, shocked at what I was feeling. I didn’t want this to end anymore. I wanted to be in this state of deep pleasure and satisfaction. A state that felt like I was in another dimension, floating in ecstasy. Emmett positioned me against the wall and began thrusting with a relaxed, calculated, and precise rhythm. I was perfectly content with this new pace. It was pure torturous, but I was willing to go through the pleasurable torture for as long as possible. He took his time, and it was delicious. I felt myself hovering on the edge of hell for as long as he wanted me to. He knew what he was doing. He knew the spots to hit, the angles to go through. Christ, this man knows how to bring a woman to her knees if you ever let him pass the cordial line. “I’m going to come,” I choked out. He carefully reduced his pa

Two more nights and it was the day for the town's ball. Fiona Nuban must have arrived while I was having a late lunch because just as I finished, she was at the doorway and had prepared my outfit in my room with the help of Rose and Fiona's assistant. "Are you ready to try out the dress and two other options I came with?" She asked and I nodded as I rose from the table. "I've worked on all the adjustments required. I am pretty sure everything will fit perfectly now" she said, as she led the way to my room where there were three racks of dresses. A brown-haired, pretty girl in a simple dress smiled at me. "This is Ruth, my assistant," Fiona introduced. "Hi," I greeted. "It’s lovely to meet you, Miss," Ruth replied formally. "Which of these options would you like to begin with?" Fiona asked, waving towards the racks. On the racks were a blue Damask gown, a black crystal and beaded gown, and another black silk parted gown. "That one," I said, pointing to the blue damask gown.

"Oh my god, Aston," I called, as recognition hit me. "Yes, we meet again," I replied. He smiled sweetly. "For a moment there, I thought you didn't recognize me at all." "Oh, of course I do. Sorry for the way I left the other night. I was..." "Nah, it's nothing." He cut in. "So you're here with Rachel King?" I nodded. "It seems your friendship with her is something great." "Yes, it is, Aston," Rachel said from behind, walking up to me with two glasses of wine. "In case she didn't tell you, Amber and I are best friends." "You are?" Aston asked, looking at me. "Yes, we are," I responded. Rachel beamed with excitement at my confirmation and handed me a glass of wine. "That's great. Do you mind if we... Do you want to... Can I have this dance, Amber?" He asked, shining a toothy grin. Rachel nudged my shoulder and whispered to my hearing alone. "Go ahead," she said, "besides my brother was acting bitchy earlier. It's not a bad thing if he knows you've got options." "What?" I giggl

When my gaze met Mrs. King's again, she was glaring at me. The daggers in her eyes almost squeezed my self-esteem into a tiny ball. I turned to Emmett. He was looking at his mother, the anger evident on his face. "Don't speak to her like that again." He finally spoke up. His voice was icy and sort of terrifying. Mr. King changed the topic, and the family started discussing business and some tech-related stuff I had no idea about. The girl seated beside Mrs. King, however, was contributing a lot to the discussion and flirting with Emmett while at it. I felt inadequate, ugly, little, and out of place. Thank God for Rachel, who kept offering me kind, silent reassurances now and then, even though she was contributing to the discussion. When it was time to make a speech, Mr. King was welcomed to the podium and when he finished his speech; his family was invited to join him at the podium for a picture, leaving me and the girl alone. I became conscious of the girl seated across the tab
