Love was far on Rose’s mind as she settled in a chair… But then again, the devil was in the details, and she didn’t know then that love was slowly but surely creeping up on her. “Help! 1. His Stubbornness

Rose was resting, still exhausted from her tumultuous night shift, when she received a call from the head nurse. For a moment there, she wondered what could possibly be wrong – the head nurse never called her – before taking the call, “Hello Elizabeth.” “Hello Rose,” the older woman greeted her in a soft tone of voice, “how have you been?” “I’m good. Thanks,” Rose tried not to show how unsettled she was by the call or how curious she was. “Can you come to the clinic to cover today’s night shift?” The woman then asked, straight to the point.“Is something wrong?” Rose asked in a concerned tone. 2. His Offer

Roman Bianchi was a mafia boss whom very few would be daring enough – or suicidal enough – to mess with. He lived by a few rules, among which harming children was forbidden, because even his chaotic life could use some structure. And at the moment, Roman wasn’t pleased to be on bedrest to say the least. He needed to hunt the rat who dared to betray him. This betrayal made him lose money, but also facilitated an attempt on his life – and made him lose 3 of his men. Truth be told, he already had someone in mind, whom he had suspected of being a bit too well-off as of late… He just hadn’t had the time to investigate the man at leisure. 3. His Unsettling Smirk

The moment Rose entered room 77, she felt Roman Bianchi’s penetrating gaze on her. It made shivers of awareness run down her spine, but also made a part of her want to make a run for it. She defiantly met his stare head on, unwilling to submit to the sheer pressure oozing off him. The mafia boss’ smirk was bewitching, and it unsettled her that her patient had so much power over her. She needed to remind herself that Roman Bianchi was her patient, and not just any patient, a dangerous one at that. “I accept,” she told him in a firm tone of voice. “I accept the deal.” “Naturally,” he nodded at her, almost as if he was humoring her. 4. More Than A Bystander

Chapter 4: Rose was holding on by a thread, but her tiredness getting the better of her was not an option. She thus made sure to splash her face with water abundantly when she went to change. She couldn’t believe the man had had the doctor remove his veinous access. But then again, he was a supposedly generous mafia boss, whose contributions helped the clinic greatly. Ergo, she shouldn’t be so surprised really. Admittedly, the way he was dressed impeccably and looking so regal as he greeted her should be illegal. It did something to her that left her unsettled. She also shouldn’t be so bothered by his deep gaze, which was not amorous in nature. The way he exuded danger was too much not to take notice of it, and she wondered if it was fear that prompted her to act in such a coy manner at times. 5. Not A Child

By the time the car reached their destination, Rose had dozed off. For a moment, Roman was thinking whether he should wake her up or let his men handle her. His aversion for women, especially the meek and mellow who were hiding another side of them, made it difficult for him to think straight. Yet, he found himself reaching out to her, tapping her forehead with two of his fingers. And although the gesture itself was softer than one would expect of someone like him, it was all it took for Rose to spring up into a sitting position, and say, “Sorry I dozed off. Are we there yet?” “Yes, we are,” he declared at once, narrowing his eyes ever so slightly, wondering if her dozing off was but an act – for his gesture was too soft for her to wake up so abruptly – before brushing off all doubts… Now wasn’t the time to start questioning his decision to bring her to his mansion. 6. Rules

Rose heaved a sigh of relief when Roman Bianchi left the room. Her interactions with him always left her on edge, and she wasn’t sure she liked it. Hell, if anything, she should hate the man for making her leave the clinic to take care solely of him. But she couldn’t bring herself to hate a patient, no matter how stubborn, quirky, or despicable he was. Rose shook her head negatively, chasing away all negative thoughts, and began to pack the medical necessities away, when a man and a woman showed up. The man’s tone of voice was brisk as he said, “Miss Rose, let us lead you to your room.” Rose hadn’t intended to linger around, not that there was anything for her to do but go rest right then, and she was therefore glad someone came for her. “We have prepared a room for you,” the woman then let out in a sweet voice which was unmistakably fake. 7. Flora

Rose didn’t have the time to appreciate the room’s luxurious feel, or even the bathroom adjoined to it. She merely removed her shoes, had the quickest shower, and then hit the bed, in the same clothes she had been wearing earlier… not that she had much choice. Or so she thought! Feeling a little bit uncomfortable in her jeans, she fumbled with the top button so she could breathe a little. “Much better,” she mumbled, content, drowsiness holding her captive. As comfortable as the bed was, and as luxuriously smooth as the sheets were, Rose had difficulty falling asleep, no doubt because she was in an unfamiliar place. Nevertheless, by not having to focus on anything, and chasing all and any unpleasant thoughts from her mind, she finally managed to get some shut-eye after some time. By the time Rose reached her room, she had already made plans with Maria, her dear neighbor and friend, in regards to her sweet little Mey. Stefan was with her as she made the call, almost as if he was making sure she wouldn’t divulge more than she should – like where she was and who she was treating. Rose then declared she was in need of changing her outfit with a little bit of a grimace, and he reminded her of the clothes that had been prepared for her in advance. She had expected them to provide regular low-cost clothes, and was surprised to find chic designer clothes.
