Reed's POV "Please," Kairos added, and I swallowed hard, turning to face him and asking if he had asked me to stay, even though I had clearly heard him. The last thing I needed was a one-on-one with him, looking him in the eye after what I had just kept from him. He described it as a vision in which Lake was in the water struggling to breathe, and he was swimming as fast as he could to get to him, but he couldn't, and he was terrified because Lake appeared to be dying.
