ISABELLA DE-LUCA MORETTI Mum had her good days, her bad days, and her ‘just there’ days. Some days she woke up and remembered. On some, she woke up in a past timeline. On other days, she moved between the two. It was exhausting talking to all these versions of her. I didn’t know which one I preferred, the one that remembered or the one that didn’t. Today, Mum was okay. She remembered everything. She was awake, had been since I heard her watching the TV in her room around five in the morning. The house was small so we were sharing a wall. It was hard to sleep after she started watching her reality show. When I finally did, Mum woke me up an hour later so we could discuss what we were going to do. She said, “We can’t hide out here like savages forever.” We were hiding because of her. After going back and forth with her, I decided that I had to get up.
