Alora's POV Life had a funny but effective way of forcing one to be humble. With everything I'd been through in this city, I honestly thought things couldn't get worse, but I guess it was my fault in the end. I should have trained myself to always expect the worst, because it always happened, it was only a matter of time, and this time, fate had reared it's ugly head again. But only, it picked the wrong time to show it's face. A tired sigh slid past my lips as I stared ahead. I'd been in this spot for over an hour now, and I would be lying to myself if I said I wasn't tired. My bones ached and I felt restless, but for some strange reason, it had nothing to do with the what I was about to do. Instead, it had everything to do with what would happened if I failed. I gulped, and my mind took that as an Invitation to recall what had happened in the last couple of days. If there was a word that could be used to describe my mood all through, then it definitely had to be shock. Sh

Alora's POV No matter how hard I placed my feet against the floor, they just refused to stay put. Personally, I was getting tired of pacing about the whole place, but I couldn't bring myself to stop. If I was being honest, I wasn't sure I could actually stop. If I did stop, then best believe that I was going to go straight behind the counter, to get my husband out of there. My husband. I had no idea how the hell I was even standing on my feet right now. Right before the police had showed up, I passed out. Apparently, Henry's grip was more lethal than I thought, but somehow, I woke up midway to the hospital. The nurses in the ambulance had insisted that I follow them to the hospital, but I turned them down immediately. They'd tried their level best to convince me, but in that moment, I'd told them that my husband was the only one that mattered, and I'd be damned if I missed getting him out of prison. Fredrick was due to be out in the next fifteen minutes, those were the wo

Eliaz's POV I couldn't believe my ears. Hell, I couldn't even believe the scene in front of me. I'd blinked back a couple of times, hoping that it would at least change something, but it did. A small part of me had thought, maybe if I blinked too fast, then the distraction that had just appeared in the form of Alora and Fredrick would disappear. But I was wrong, very very wrong. No matter how hard I blinked, then just wouldn't go, and like that wasn't traumatic enough, they both brought news; bad and horrible news too. “I wouldn't sign those papers if I were you.” Alora's voice echoed loudly in my head. . “Halo’s not your son, and the only reason Cynthia wants you to sign off your properties is so she can get everything“Do you want to know who Halo's real father is?” Fredrick added . “Henry is. Not only is she trying to swindle you out of your properties, she's cheating on you as well.” Their words echoed all around me, drowning me further and further down into an abyss

Alora's POV I'd been taking one too many trips to the police station recently, and I would be lying if I said I liked it. It made my skin crawl and for all the wrong reasons, but that wasn't even the worst part. No matter how much I seemed to loathe the place, it didn't change the fact that I still had to come to the station, and at a given time too. When Fredrick and I had decided to sleep in today, the last thing we saw coming was a call from the inspector, and in the early hours of the morning too. “Ignore it.” Fredrick had said as he wrapped his arms tighter around me. “it's not important. If it is, he'll just have to wait till we're fully up.” Heaven knows I wanted to take his advice, but the more I ignored his calls, the more he kept calling. “Hello?” I'd spoken into the phone after so many missed calls. “Hi inspector, is there any….”“We have a situation at the station.” He'd rasped. “And we need your presence. Its about Mrs Cynthia Deutchmond.”I didn't want to g

Fredrick’s POV It was a busy day at work today, and heaven knows the only thing I wanted, was a chance to finally get back to my family. Family. I couldn't remember the last time I said that word aloud and actually meant it. Over the years, it had been just a word that didn't hold any sentimental value, and could you blame me? I was hurt and betrayed by the one person that was supposed to have my back. Not only did he not do that, he went ahead to tarnish and ruin me and my wife's reputation at any opportunity he got. Henry's death had come as a shock, but did it make me a bad person that I didn't exactly feel too bad about it? At first, I was surprised, but over the days, there was this sort of peace his death had brought. Now, I didn't have to always be on the lookout for someone trying to sabotage me or any of our plans. Cynthia and Eliaz were gone as well, but there was something that still lingered in the air. Not something though, someone. Halo. Alora had insisted
