Chapter 116: Francisco’s POV

I watch as Julia walks in the door, covered in what looks to be blood.“What happened? Are you hurt?” I rush to her as Dahlia holds our son in the kitchen.“The blood is not mine, darling. It is your ex-lover’s.” She pats my cheek as she grabs a cloth and runs it under cold water and attempts to wipe it away.“What have you done?” I ask nervously.“I have settled the score of what she’s done to others and gave her a taste of her tyranny. Nothing more.” “Julia, we cannot risk your absence in our son’s life.”“I will never be taken from my son. She will not speak if she enjoys the idea of living.” She warns as she turns to my son and watches him laugh in excitement for his mama.“Have you settled that growing need now?” Dahlia asks. “I have. I will no longer be burdened by the idea of that disgusting harlot and she will bear a constant reminder of her crimes.” “You cut her face, didn’t you?” “I carved it from top to bottom on one side.” I listen in horror as Julia confesses to her d

Chapter 117: Mason’s POV

After a few hours of trying to convince Charlotte to file charges to no avail, I leave to visit Claire at Leonardo’s. Charlotte would be released and transported back to the mental facility and assessed for any additional mental disorders as she just suffered a traumatic incident. I drive in silence, thinking about this Julia woman. What would push her to defend Claire to this extent? Was there something she witnessed or experienced that could have triggered her response towards Charlotte? I try looking up some things while sitting in Leo’s driveway and I find what looks to be correlation. Charlotte’s accomplice who confessed to her crimes was Francisco and it seems that Francisco was Julia’s fiancee. It also seems that they share a child. Could Charlotte have taken him from her? I shake the idea and hop out of my car and head towards the front door. I raise my hand to knock when I see Jasmine open the door.“Oh, hi! I was just about to get Claire’s gift from my car. Care to help me?”

Chapter 118: Charlotte’s POV

After a long and damned day, I’m returned to the facility in which I was originally attacked. I make it back to my room and slide into my bed. I feel a heaviness in my chest and anger clouds my vision. I was untouchable, unshakeable and intimidating once upon a time. I’ve become a shell of the woman I once was. I’ve become weak, restricted and unstable. Father would be so disappointed especially after finding out that this was all in an effort to chase Leonardo. He was never supportive of my relationship. He simply wanted to use my relationship to financially fuel this business’ success. Leonardo and I had something beautiful. We were powerful together and we made striking appearances. He had wealth and renowned talent that complimented by beauty and upbringing well. And yet, he still chose these bottom-feeder women who had nothing in common with him and were no comparison to me. It’s almost like he did it to taunt me. It was even more humiliating when he married Claire. She was but

Chapter 118: Mason’s POV

The night went on well. Claire was happy to have made it through her procedure unharmed, Leo was relieved to roll up his sleeves and relax, Nathan was relieved to have peace and Jasmine was comfortably cuddling at my side.“Leo, does your arm feel okay?” Jasmine asks as she seems the honeycomb patterned bruising on his forearm. It was an interesting pattern but thallium was a unique poison - that’s what the doctor said as an explanation.“It feels sore but it’s healing as expected. The pattern may be permanent - the doctors aren’t sure. They’ve never dealt with thallium poisoning first-hand.” He shrugs as he continues to rub Claire’s belly.“Oh. Well in that case, it’s a beautiful pattern. I might just need a photo or two to use it for my next collection.” Leo lets out a short.“Have at it.” He muses. “So I have an announcement. Claire and I had discussed getting a new home for us to raise our sons in so I had reached out to a realtor and there was a beautiful home just three doors do

Chapter 118: Claire’s POV

The night was exactly what I needed. There was so much love and support surrounding me that I felt okay for the first time in a while. That was until everyone left and it was only Mason left to share bad news.“I’m sorry, Claire. I hate having to do this but Charlotte’s was given a tablet to use while in the psychiatric facility and we have reason to believe that she is aware that Julia is not Leonardo’s actual partners. It seems a blog had posted a story where you were in the hospital with Leo.” He stands there with his head low in disappointment after sharing something horrifying.“Well she won’t be able to do anything from in there, right?” Leo hurries to ask any question that might save me from the pit I was slowly falling into.“Right now, no. But we don’t know if that’ll fuel her to try. I recommend that Claire go back to Jasmine’s until you move into the new house. Charlotte probably thinks she’s here already.” “Okay.” I agree without any hesitation. My boys came first. I know

Chapter 118: Leonardo’s POV

The idea of sleeping alone was tormenting me as I went over the electronic documents for the new house in my office. I felt the need to keep busy and be productive whenever Claire wasn’t around so I dove into work and projects to distract myself. This project was exponentially more important though. The sooner this house was closed on and furnished, the sooner I could continue my life with Claire and I could not afford to let Charlotte ruin this again.I go over the last document when I see my phone ring. To my surprise, it’s my mother calling. I hadn’t spoken to her since I disowned her and my sister Emelia for demanding that I abandon my wife. I hesitate before answering.“This is Leo.” I answer sternly.“Darling, there’s no need to answer so coldly to your mother. How are you?” Her pompous voice fills my ears.“I’m doing fine, mother. To what do I owe the pleasure?” I roll my eyes in silence as I wait for her response.“Well, I’d seen the blogs about Claire’s presence at your side

Chapter 118: Charlotte’s POV

I sit in my bed, fuming in anger and I analyze the photo again. Claire was sitting at Leonardo’s bedside. Her hand places gently over his as he’s unconscious as her belly sitting in her lap. She was heavily pregnant. With her current size, there was no doubt in my mind that she was pregnant by Leo. An unforgivable action on her part. She should have known better. I made myself very clear that she was not to bear any of Leo’s children. Or had she forgotten the demise of her first pregnancy?Maybe a reminder would benefit us both. I would get what I want and Claire would be reminded of her place - I can be lenient if she stays in it.I begin looking up the blueprints of this disgusting building and formulating an escape route. I could potentially live with Leonardo not choosing me - although I don’t believe him entirely. What I couldn’t live with was him having his happily ever after with a woman he’s chosen. Especially not when that woman would bear his children. If he didn’t want it w

Chapter 119: Leonardo’s POV

I turn in bed to find that I’m alone. Claire was at Jasmine’s for safety and I went to bed alone. I check my phone to see my realtor has just messaged me.‘Good morning Leonardo, your offer was graciously accepted. I have advised the seller that you’d like to expedite the purchasing process. They have agreed to expedite and we will be closing in just four days. Please let know if this is not suitable for you so that I can correct it.’I smile at the response as that meant in just four days, I could hire a team to move and complete furnishings the home and have Claire back at my side. I decide to head over to Jasmine’s to share the news with Claire and see what she thought about meeting with my mother for lunch. It felt only right to allow Claire to make that decision. It takes about an hour to get ready and head over to Jasmine’s to see my wife. I enter the guest code on the gate keypad and enter as it opens. I then park the car and walk up to the door and am about to knock when Jasmi

Chapter 119: Mason’s POV

Breakfast with Jasmine was just as fun as our date the other night and something told me that there would be many more days like this. I kiss her as we return to her house and I ready myself to take Claire to the gun range.“Do you think it’s safe for Claire to be at a gun range? She’s heavily pregnant.” Jas voices her concerns as we enter the house.“Absolutely not, which is why I made some alterations. First, Claire is in a private one-on-one class with the instructor and myself as her chaperone and second, she will only be learning how to actively hold and handle the weapon - there will be no actual firing as she’s due any day now.” “Okay. That’s a relief.”“And I got her juice right here.” I say as I hold up a fresh fruit juice I had made and stored in Jasmine’s fridge this morning.“Your mother must be proud.” She muses as she gives me one last kiss before heading upstairs.“Between the tow of us, she is.” I smile S she leaves and wait as Claire and Leo to come out from the bedr

Chapter 119: Leonardo’s POV

I stayed behind at Jasmine’s to wait for Claire. Mason said the course would take about two hours so I thought I’d work on the dinner arrangements and wait here rather than come back later. Jasmine went for a nap so I sat in the living room, watching the news patiently.“Hey man, didn’t know you were here.” I hear Nathan say as he enters the living room and sits down.“Just waiting for Claire to get back. How are you?”“I’m good. Thanks for asking. How’s everything going with the new house?” He asks as he settles in the recliner next to me.“Should be ready by the beginning of next week.” “That’s great. How is Claire feeling about it?” He knew something I didn’t.“She’s excited.” I lie. “Okay, I know I’m not your favorite person but I have something to tell you. When Claire went to her room last night, I went to check on her and she was crying. She said she wants normalcy and she’s scared. She doesn’t feel like she’s ever going to be safe.” I listen to Nathan with wide eyes and he re
