Hector was stunned. "T-That expensive?"Even Betty and Adeline were taken aback.Betty turned to Celeste. "Cel, come take a look."Celeste had heard everything they said. When she first took the box, she could already tell from the weight and texture that Trevor's gift wouldn't be cheap, but she hadn't expected this.Just as her aunt said, the red diamond Trevor gave her was far more brilliant and pure than the one she had auctioned off before. And that estimated two billion was likely a very conservative figure. From the look on Celeste's face, everyone could tell she didn't expect Trevor to give her something so extravagant either.Hector frowned. "So, what now? Return it?" After all, she and Trevor were about to get divorced. A gift like this—"Keep it."Betty closed the brocade box and said firmly, "Just think of it as something for Jo. When she grows up, pass it to her. If you refuse it now, it'll only end up benefiting someone else."That "someone else", of course, refe

That afternoon, when Celeste got home, Jordyn had just returned from school. The moment Celeste stepped through the door, she heard her daughter talking on the phone. Seeing her, Jordyn's face lit up. "Mom!" she called out happily. Then, whatever the person on the other end said made Jordyn's eyes brighten even more. She ran over with the phone in hand. "Mom, Dad wants to talk to you."Celeste was stunned for a moment. Then, she took the phone, pressed it to her ear, and said, "Hello.""Happy birthday."Celeste didn't answer immediately. There was a brief silence before she finally replied, "Thank you."By right, this was the moment she should've mentioned the gift he'd sent that morning, maybe said something polite in return. But holding the phone, she said nothing. Not a word.Trevor didn't bring it up either. It was as if that extravagantly expensive gift hadn't come from him at all."I've got a lot going on over here," he said calmly. "I probably won't be back for a while."

On the very last day of the decision period, Trevor still didn't make it back to the country.Just like that, the divorce decision period quietly passed.Celeste thought he'd probably return after a few more days, but the next day, while she was discussing work with Matthias, Jordyn suddenly called and said that Trevor was back.Matthias let out a disbelieving laugh. "Seriously? Of all times, he comes right after the decision period ends? He's doing this on purpose, isn't he?"Celeste put down her phone and didn't respond. On purpose? Of course not. It was probably just a coincidence.Matthias knew it too, but he couldn't help feeling irritated. He muttered, "Why not just file for divorce directly then... Though, from filing to the first hearing, it'll take at least a month—"Before they could continue, someone knocked on the door, and the topic was dropped for the moment.…Meanwhile, in the group chat with Trevor, Miles, Beck, and Wynn, Trevor suddenly tagged the three of t

Celeste thought so too. When there were fewer disputes between both parties, filing for divorce could go quite smoothly. However, she would soon have to make a trip to the military base, and her departure and return dates were uncertain. If she filed for divorce as the plaintiff and missed the court date, her case would be dismissed. In that case, it might be better to proceed with a divorce by mutual consent instead. At least with divorce by mutual consent, once the mandatory waiting period ended, she and Trevor could go collect the divorce certificate at their own convenience. Things might even go more smoothly that way.Since she was sure that if Trevor had time, he would be the first to contact her to finalize the divorce at the courthouse, she hadn't bothered to reach out to him yesterday. After all, if he was busy, there was no point in her pushing him every day.But now—Celeste looked up at Trevor's figure, a faint frown forming between her brows. If a party filed for

Trevor and Wynn also noticed Celeste and Matthias.Wynn's expression was cold and unreadable, while Trevor gave them a polite nod—a minimal gesture of acknowledgment.Celeste and Matthias, however, acted as though they hadn't seen them at all.Upon noticing Trevor's arrival, Mason smiled and said, "Trevor, let's go upstairs."Trevor nodded.Watching their backs as they left, Matthias gave a short, derisive laugh."They're already acting so arrogant even before the divorce is finalized. I can't imagine how unbearable they'll be once you two are actually divorced. "If it weren't for YodaVision, for Prof, and for me, they'd probably eat you alive."Celeste pressed her lips together and didn't respond.Just then, Zachary and Nadine arrived....Meanwhile, Trevor and the Lockets and the Shaws were being personally received by the restaurant manager.Because of all the polite small talk, they were delayed for a bit. It was just long enough for them to run into Celeste's group as
