AMELIA'S POV “Mom, you've spent so long in front of the mirror…you will get late to the event.” Daisy, my daughter commented. It's been almost ten minutes since I had been staring at myself in the mirror, checking out every detail about me. From the dress, to the make up, to the shoe. "This is an important night, baby. I mustn't get it ruined with poor fashion style,” I answered, taking one final glance at my reflection. Tonight, the moonlight innovation gala suggested by Kate would hold. After a thorough consideration, I had realized that it wasn't a bad idea totally, especially for a company which sought global recognition and market take over. It was a great idea. “Can I go with you?" The question took me unaware. Not that it was unexpected but because she hadn't mentioned anything about it since I had started getting dressed, I thought it was not going to come again. “This is a business meeting, not something you can attend, okay? It's for big men and women…not a par

AMELIA'S POVSlow breath, slight headache and all round pain forced my eyes open. The environment was familiarly strange. Like somewhere I had been in the past but in a long time and I couldn't recall when.A familiar scent enveloped the air, filling my lungs as I struggled to sit up on the bed.Where was I?I stiffened, pushing the blanket away from my body. I tried to wrap my head around the event from last night but all I met was a sharp headache with threatened to shatter my skull. The environment was familiar yet, different. After several attempts, fragments of last night's memory started coming, making my heart throb harder. I had been at the Gala, delivered my speech….an encounter with Nelson and some important personalities. Then… He came. Damien. The guy who had stolen my attention with his charm. The tension in the room grew thicker and thicker. I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms.“Pick up the damn call, Nelson,” I snapped. “If you’re innocent, pick it up.”He glanced at me for a moment, his gaze filled with a mix of surprise and frustration. He exhaled sharply and finally swiped to answer. “Good," I whispered. Without giving him the chance to speak, I reached over and tapped the speaker button, letting the voice come to life in the room.A thick silence followed before a distorted voice came through.“You should be careful, Nelson. And for Amelia, tell her to play by the rules.” The unfamiliar voice roared from the other end.A chill raced down my spine. My breath caught in my throat. My worst fear was happening- someone had my daughter, and they were watching my moves.N

ISABELLA POVThe dim light shine above the room, making long shadows rest on the walls. For minutes, silence stretched between my sister and I, each one lost in thought about what to do next. Carmella, restless, paced up and down the room, faint smell of cigarette filled the air as I puffed in some smoke. With the new development, the battle line had been drawn between us and Amelia. Her daughter was dear to her and I was sure she would find her with everything she could.I leaned against the couch, my mind reeling with possibilities. Carmella was restless, wiping off sweat from her face every now and then. The tension thickened in the air, each of us had something to say but no one had the right word to put in place. As if we were not prepared for this."We can’t keep Daisy here much longer," Carmella said finally, like her frustration compelled her to speak. Her voice was low but laced with frustration. "We’re seriously running out of time."I heaved a sigh, rubbing my thighs absen

Another suspect that might give a useful information.Kate was supposed to be the first suspect on a logical basis because she had given me the drink which made me lose track of things happening around me.But I wasn't going to drive at anything, I wouldn't accuse her of anything. Not even after the culprits have instructed me not to involve the police or I might lose my daughter.I would only ask probing questions while pretending to have a breakfast talk with her.As I sat there, my world crumbled beneath me yet I forced a smile. I kept my expression in check, constantly reminding myself that I needed to play smart and act cool.My hands circled the coffee cup in front of me, the heat emanating into my palm but, it was nothing compared to the pain of not knowing my daughter's whereabout. After a long wait, I saw her approach, moving with ease as if she had nothing to worry about.
