The cold night air bit into Alison’s skin as she hurried after Nicholas as they left the cabin, their footsteps muffled by the thick layer of fallen leaves. Alison felt movements, she felt she was moving. She couldn't quite understand. Alison woke up in Nicholas’s arms confused. He was walking extremely fast. She didn't know where he was taking them. She was too sleepy to ask anyway. He stopped and opened something behind him. The next thing she knew, she was dumped like a sack of potatoes in the backseat of a car. Alison quickly sat up. She watched Nicholas as he entered the car and quickly zoomed off. She wanted to ask him where he got the car, but the broken windows were a sign she shouldn't ask. She wasn't used to fast rides and Nicholas was driving too fast. Fast was an understatement but she couldn't bring herself to say anything. Alison sat at the dining table, slowly eating the food Nicholas made. The silence between her and Nicholas was getting more suffocating as time passed by. Everything seemed to going slowly for Alison. She tried her possible best to be out of Nicholas's sight. She rarely sees him anyway. He was mostly out. She buried herself in her painting nowadays. It was the only way she was able to escape this harsh reality, ironically also what got her into this huge mess.
