BIANCA’S POV The silence in the car was thick. It wasn’t angry or peaceful. Just… loaded. “You don’t have to pretend with me, you know,” he said after a while. “I’m not pretending. I’m good.” He glanced at me. “You think I don’t know what that looks like?” I didn’t answer. I stared out the window and tried not to care that his hand brushed against my thigh when he changed gears. I hated how my skin reacted. I hated that my heart still beat for him, traitorous and stupid. When we got to the office, his jaw clenched. “Security’s doubled. I’ve vetted everyone twice. If anything feels off, you tell me. I’ll be sitting in your waiting room all day. If you need anything, even as little as spoon feeding you, let me know okay?” I stepped out of the car and turned to him. “Just stay in your place.
