I stood up and blinked rapidly. Nikolai was still standing frozen in his place. The little kid ran around Matron and hid behind her. The little boy peeked out from behind the Matron’s long skirt, his small face framed by messy curls. His big, innocent green eyes looked between the two of us with confusion and hope.But he didn’t move.Soon, the volunteer brought gifts. The kids gathered around us, and we distributed everything to them.
