My breath hitched in my throat, and my body froze when I saw little Leo running inside at full speed.

A sudden silence spreads in the environment as the conversation dies mid-sentence. Every pair of eyes shifted toward the entrance.

His little frame entered the hall like sunlight spilling into a darkened room. His soft curls bounced with every step he took inside, his cheeks were flushed pink from running. His chest rose and fell rapidly with excitement as he scanned the room.
