CHAPTER 36 - THE PACK REGROUPSThe Reapers compound had never felt so empty.Ghost stood at the head of the conference table, with her arms folded and her face pale as she addressed the remaining pack members. The blood from her jungle wounds had been cleaned and bandaged, but she was still suffering from the psychological scars of losing both their Alpha and Virus. "We all know why we're here," Ghost began, "Venom and Virus are gone. Captured by Overlord Rosario's forces."The pack members exchanged grim looks. Reaper's knuckles were white where he gripped the edge of the table hard. Butcher had his arm in a sling from the jungle battle. Now, he just sat, staring at the wall, his jaw clenched. Hacker sat hunched over his laptop. Dark circles had formed under his eyes as a result of hours of frantic searching. "I've been monitoring every frequency, every channel I can hack into," he said without looking up from his screen. "I've got nothing concrete yet, but I'm picking up chatter

The detention level stretched out before them. The emergency lighting bathed everything in hellish red, and the air reeked of blood, sweat, and fear. Velia's stomach churned as they moved passed empty cells, each one a testament to the horrors that took place in this underground hell."Maximum security is through here," she whispered, consulting her memorized blueprint. Her hands shook as she pointed down a corridor lined with reinforced steel doors.Ghost held up a hand, bringing the pack to a halt. Behind them, the sound of pursuing footsteps echoed, growing closer with each passing second. They were running out of time."Butcher, Stalker, cover our six," Ghost commanded. "Reaper, Mauler, with me. We need to breach those cells now."The pack members split up efficiently. Butcher and Stalker took defensive positions at the corridor junction, their weapons trained on the approach routes while the rest of the pack moved toward the maximum security section.Velia's heart pounded as t

The detonator skittered across the cracking floor as Venom and Rosario crashed into the debris. Both men rushed to grab the device, their hands colliding as they fought desperately for control."Everyone, get out! The whole structure is compromised!" Blade shouted as he grabbed Virus and hauled him toward the extraction ropes. Velia refused to move. Her eyes locked on the life-or-death struggle between her mate and the man who murdered his family.Even without his wolf, Venom fought with savage determination. However, his injuries and the genetic suppressants had taken their toll.Rosario landed a vicious elbow to Venom's ribs which him rolling across the broken concrete. Then, Rosario scrambled for the detonator. His fingers inches from the trigger."I’ve waited for this moment for sixteen years,” Rosario panted as more blood streamed from his bullet wound. "I've waited sixteen years to finish what I started with your pathetic family."Venom's eyes blazed with fury as he launched

The war room buzzed with tension as maps and intelligence reports covered every available surface. Venom sat at the head of the table, still pale from his recovery but with steel determination in his eyes. The genetic suppressants had finally worn off completely, and his enhanced abilities were returning stronger than before."Pedro's consolidated power faster than we anticipated," Hacker reported, pulling up satellite imagery on the main screen. "He's absorbed three smaller crime families and taken control of Rosario's shipping operations."Ghost leaned forward, studying the tactical displays. "How many men?""Conservative estimate? Two hundred active soldiers, plus support network. He's also acquired military-grade weapons from Rosario's stockpiles."Virus, still recovering but insistent on participating, pointed to several marked locations on the map. "These are his main strongholds. The docks, the old warehouse district, and his club downtown.""Heavily fortified?" Stalker asked.

With the speed of light, Venom leaped from the rooftop and landed gracefully on the festival stage. The crowd scattered in panic as he hit the platform, but his focus was entirely on the security office where Velia's scream had come."All teams, converge on my position. Velia's in immediate danger." he ordered through his comm as he made his way through the crowd. The soldiers began closing in from all directions with erratic movements as the drug cocktail he'd used continued to destabilize their systems. One fell into a merchandise booth, destroying it with uncontrolled strength before turning toward fleeing families with predatory intent."Virus, take that one down," Venom commanded, pointing at the enhanced soldier stalking a group of children. His brother's rifle spoke once from his rooftop position, killing the enhanced soldier before he could reach his intended victims."Boss, there's a problem," Ghost's said, "Pedro's not at his command center. It's empty except for recordin
