Rowan's Point of View I couldn't take my eyes off Janet. The woman sitting on that couch didn’t look like the Janet I used to know. Or maybe she never was that woman to begin with. Maybe I was the fool who believed the image I built for her. The lazy, good-for-nothing girl my family plucked from the gutter and handed a marriage certificate like it was charity. I used to think I knew everything about her. Her moods, her limits, the way she’d flinch when my mother made a remark, the way she’d retreat into silence when things got too hard. I thought I’d seen the full extent of her. But a few hours ago, she shattered that illusion. The way she calmed that hysterical woman not like someone who got lucky, but like someone trained, professional, damn near clinical. There was control in her voice. Composure in her body language. A sharpness in her eyes I’d never seen before. It was almost... mesmerizing. I really didn't believe Janet was a real counselor. Hell, I thought that Ed

Janet's Point of View I stepped down from the cab I took from Rowan's estate this morning. It was already 10 AM—Grandma had insisted I wait for breakfast, and I was really worried about what my brothers would say. It pained me that I'm already lying to them, I can't afford to lie to them again. As I walked up to the front door, I was greeted with a warm smile from Jasper, who was standing in the doorway. "Janet!" he called out, his face lighting up. "There you are. How are you? Was your night okay?" He pulled me into a big hug, and I could feel how genuinely happy he was to see me. "I'm fine," I said, though I felt tired from the emotional night with Rowan. "Come on inside," Jasper said, leading me through the door. "Everyone's been waiting for you." As we walked into the living room, I saw William, Dickson, and Peter all stand up with huge smiles on their faces. "Janet!" Peter rushed over and hugged me tight. "We missed you!" "It was only one night," I laughed, but I

Janet's Point of View I was touched by my brothers' story about how I was separated from the family. I never knew that was what happened. My mother was sick? I had no idea. The whole room was silent for a while before Jasper spoke up . "You never told us anything about your adoptive family," he said gently. "How were they to you? Do you remember anything when you were little? How did you end up in the orphanage?" I hesitated for a while. I never remember much of what happened or how I landed at the orphanage. But still have some memories of how Mr and Mrs Redmond started showing up at the orphanage. And from there I was adopted and they have been all I know as family. “ It's fine Janet , if you don't want to talk about it”. Williams said as he touched my shoulder. He said softly. "We never wanted to check your past without you knowing. We'd like to hear from you, if you're okay to share." I was still caught off guard. Most rich men would have done this by themselves, even bef

Janet's Point of View My heart skipped a beat when I saw Mrs. Caroline coming in my direction. I tried to change my direction, but it was already too late. Mrs. Caroline got to me in time. "Trying to avoid me, huh?" she said, throwing the words at me as she rolled her eyes. "Janet, what the hell are you doing in somewhere like this?" I never wanted to get involved with anyone from the Thayer family—not Rowan's mother, especially not now when I had such a big secret to keep. I'm not yet ready to reveal my pregnancy and definitely not the paternity of my child. She paused and looked around at the OBGYN department with disgust. "Oh, let me guess," she continued with a mocking laugh. "You're still trying to fix your infertility? Oh, come on, Janet. Even after divorce?" Her face changed suddenly, getting darker. "No, wait. Don't tell me you're really planning on trapping my son with some low-life child?" I was shocked that Mrs. Caroline really thought that about me. Like, w

Janet’s Point of View We went downstairs together, his calm presence steadying my nerves. The evening air was crisp when we stepped outside, the driveway lights glowing softly against the dark. A sleek black sedan waited at the curb. Dickson walked ahead, opened the passenger door, and gestured toward it with an easy smile. “After you,” he said. I slipped into the car, smoothing my gown as I settled into the seat. He closed the door carefully behind me before circling to the driver’s side. As the engine purred to life, I caught my reflection in the window—calm, glowing, and maybe, a little hopeful. When we made it to the event hall, I caught fragments of murmured voices, though I couldn’t make out the words. It didn’t matter—I told myself. I was here to learn, to meet the people who mattered. Still, a part of me wondered if their whispers had anything to do with us. We made it to a high table where my brother and I would sit. Before we sat down, Dickson introduced me to the peopl
