Samantha's POVAdams had invited me over for dinner with Adrian before Alaric and I left for Nightveil tomorrow. I was also to leave Adrian with him during my time away, so it worked well sleeping over at his place that night.Adams had prepared dinner, and I enjoyed helping while Adrian hovered for bites of every meal we prepared. Adams was like a grandpa, and I loved their relationship, despite the time and place limit all through the years. We were done making the meal and had started setting the foods at the table when a knock came at the door. I looked at Adams, surprised that someone was knocking."Go check who it is," Adams said before I could ask if he was expecting someone. I decided to go to the door, but that scent hit me strongly and I froze as I held the doorknob.Alpha Ric? What was he doing here?I turned back to look at Adams, questioning him with my gaze."It's Alpha Ric," I said, already expecting him to know, but he wore a surprised expression."How would you know t

Samantha's POV"Samantha," Ric had called my name, but he touched me at the same time, and I felt that spark. The one I felt most times when our skin came in a little contact. Ric quickly pulled his hand away too, and came to stand in front of me. He squinted his eyes with a mixture of shock and suspicion, like he knew what I felt. I withdrew my legs, and he watched me intently as I took steps back. "Is there something I need to know?" He spoke again."Like what?" I asked, looking anywhere that wasn't him."You've become increasingly irritated by me ever since that vision happened. Did you see something that makes you..." He trailed off as if to rethink his words."I apologize, but if you feel that way, I didn't realize I was acting irritated," I said before he could continue. My purpose was still on track: to not be in here alone with him."I'll stay away from Adrian if this is what this is about," he said, catching my interest now."Really?""Sure, he's not my son after all." He loo

Samantha's POVMy eyes fell on Alaric first as he stood by the car. A frown settled on his face the moment he saw the coat in my hands, but I didn't give a single care about what was going on in his mind. It didn't smell like Kennedy because I noticed Kennedy had masked his scent and used perfume on the coat, too. So Alaric couldn't know who it was from.I looked away from him to see Adrian and Adams together. Adrian looked quite sad. He really wanted to come with me. We were never apart, and this was the first time. I missed him already; I missed him so much that I almost cried for leaving him. He left Adams and ran into my arms while I hugged him tightly, dropping several kisses on his face.I finally broke the hug from Adrian, held his hand, and walked him back to Adams, who welcomed me into a hug as well."Take care, Adams." I said when we broke the hug. He nodded and smiled at me."You too." Adams said, then I turned to Adrian."Baby…" I called, caressing Adrian's face, but Adria

Alaric's POVAfter the car wreck, I found myself somewhere in the woods. My thought quickly went to Samantha and what might have happened to her. Fear crippled me but gave me the strength to get back on my feet. I needed to go to her, to save her from whoever and whatever had attacked us. This was the fourth scare she was giving me, and this time, it drove me out of my mind.I let Storm take over as anger surged in like never before. I was going to destroy anyone that dared attack us, but I needed to save her. Her scent, mixed with blood, suddenly caught my attention, and I raced towards the direction leading to the road, but I suddenly felt a presence, and something huge pounced on me, carving its long, dirty claws into my skin.It pinned me to the ground, carving more of its claws into my skin. It was aiming to rip my heart out, and when that didn't work, it wanted to smash my head as it kept digging its claws into my face, pressing my head down to the ground. But I thought of Saman

Samantha's POV"Come on in. My grandma has been expecting you both." At first, I didn't get what the lady said, but soon it registered in my head. Her grandma had been expecting us? I turned to Alaric, who looked at me as well. He mirrored the shock I felt, too. I just hoped we weren't getting ourselves in trouble. We entered the wooden house, warm and simple in its décor. "Have a seat." The lady said, offering us the one couch in the room. The only other chairs were by the dining. There was an old television and a radio beside it. I wondered if they still worked. But what caught my attention the most was the little herb garden they had by the porch. The lady had left, but Alaric and I didn't take a seat yet. We were both almost reluctant."Is it safe?" I asked in a hushed voice; since we were outside pack territory, we couldn't communicate through the mindlink again."My instincts don't tell me otherwise." Alaric said. He didn't look the bit scared or worried. Rather, it looked like
