Damien was sprawled on the sofa in his office when someone knocked on the door.“Come in,” he drawled, sipping from a glass of whiskey. He had just returned from another fruitless patrol around the packs searching for Nora but there was no trace of her anywhere. It was like she had vanished into thin air. Seyric walked in and paused, shaking his head when he smelled the whiskey.“My Lord, I know you are down in spirits and devastated but drinking at a time like this? This is not you.”Devastated felt like a small word for how he was feeling. He was tired, weak to his bones and generally uninterested in doing anything else. What was the point anyways?“As long as she is still alive, we have to keep searching for her. Please don't give up on her, Alpha.”“Why shouldn't I give up?” Damien tried to sit up and belched, patting himself on the stomach. Seyric watched him in his pitiful state, angry at whoever had reduced his strong Alpha to the lesser man he was looking at.“It’s been days,

Nora's POV I listened at the door, the guards outside playing some game that involved a dice. They were laughing while I ran through the door, my wolf knocking it down with my head. Before they could come at me, half of them were already lying dead. We didn't have time to waste, cutting down the guards before they could alert others. Alejandro and Amy couldn't be far away although I had not seen either of them all morning. I heard the guards talking about a recent attack on Alejandro's packhouse so, maybe that was what was taking their attention. It was to my advantage anyways. I went through the dimly lit hallway, keeping my ears open for any sound of footsteps approaching. I was panting, tired from fighting on an empty stomach but Nyx kept me going somehow.I turned into a corridor, the blood of my paws leaving tracks on the floor. The hallway was quiet, too quiet but I didn't meet anyone on the way. Just as I was getting to a point where I could see some light, my wolf got excite

A fly perched on Nora's snout and then another until they succeeded in waking her up. She shook her head, blinking until her blurry vision cleared. She was surprised to find herself surrounded by tall trees in a place she was not familiar with.Where am I? She asked herself, taking note of the fact that she was in her wolf form. How did I get here? The only thing she could remember was fighting her way out of the place where she had been kidnapped and eventually passing out. Anything else after that was lost on her. “After you passed out, the weather got cold so I made you shift back to wolf form. We are in a forest not far from where you escaped from,” Nyx explained and for the first time, Nora noticed that her arms were covered in fur. Then she remembered the last thing Nyx said. If they were still close to that prison, then she had to get on the move. Alejandro and his men were probably still looking for her so, if she remained there, they would definitely find her.Nora was hung

Nora sighed in relief as she sank into the tub filled with foamy bubbles, soaking up in the water. Her smile widened when Damien's hands came around her waist, cutting off the tiny distance between them. He was sitting in the tub behind her, her back to his chest. He was keeping his word, refusing to let her out of his sight for even a second. After they left the border, he glued himself to her the second they got to the packhouse, following her everywhere. Seyric, Ella and the rest of the household staff were glad to see that she was safe and back to her rightful home but Damien wouldn't let anyone get too close to her. When she suggested taking a bath alone, he only glared at her, dragging her with him into the bathroom and making her laugh out loud for the first time in two weeks. She winced when his fingers scraped against the wounds at her ribs and Damien froze immediately, keeping his fingers still.“Shit, I'm so sorry. I forgot you have injuries there but don't worry. I've call

Damien woke up an hour before Nora, taking a few minutes to admire her sleeping in his bed. They still had their separate bedrooms but since she returned from captivity, she had been sleeping in his room more than hers. He planned on never letting her leave, not that she had to know that. He had been in communication with Seyric and they had been a lot of sightings of werewolf spies hovering around their borders. They were short on guards because of their last attack on three packs and it seemed that their enemy packs had noticed. It was only a matter of time until Alejandro tried to attack their defenses. It was then Damien made up his mind to conduct occasional inspections of the borders on his own. It was his pack and therefore, it was in his hands to protect the people in it. Each individual, family or business was under his care, their lives depending on every decision he took. Nora stirred when he was already dressed, blinking until her eyes got used to the light in the room.
