Vinland? If memory served him correctly, Cecil's aunt, Dianne, had migrated to Vinland.Suddenly, he thought about the phone call roughly half a month ago at the banquet. He recalled the look of horror that flashed across Cecil’s face at the time and began to feel like he was close to deducing what happened. All the accumulated worry, anxiety, horror, and severe pain he had gone through had instantly turned into anger. He took the bank card and held it firmly in his palm before walking out angrily. His secretary followed behind him and asked cautiously.“Sir, where are you going?”Cleo frowned and hissed out the words between his teeth.“Vinland.”At Cleo’s words, his secretary quickly booked the earliest flight to Vinland.Cleo never got any shut-eye throughout the entire flight. His mind was in disarray. Countless scenes flashed across his mind, mingled with all kinds of conflicting feelings. When he was playing with six-year-old Cecil in the park, he remembered being

After a momentary silence, Cleo continued in a somber voice.“To you and everyone else, it may seem like I was the one who raised Cecil, but for me, it was more like Cecil was there for me for fourteen years. “I’m sure you know how my parents were always busy with work, and my brother is more than ten years older than me. Even though I grew up in a comfortable environment, I was always alone.“Yes, I looked after Cecil when she grew up, and she became attached to me since she was a child. She has always been a smart girl and very cute. “I felt like I became a much more cheerful person ever since I met her. When her parents passed away from the tragic accident, I felt pity for her and kept her by my side after that. “Since then, I have always seen her family.”Dianne was moved when she heard Cleo’s stream of confessions.“I understand. Even though Cecil calls you her uncle, you have always taken on the responsibility of a father. “I was aware of how tightly knit you two were

Cecil slept soundly on her first night in Vinland. It was ten in the morning by the time she woke up. After she had stretched and yawned, she heard a knock at the door.“Are you up, Cecil? I helped Mommy in the kitchen, and we made some buns for you. Come and try it!”Cecil called out that she was coming and then quickly washed up before heading downstairs. As soon as she sat down at the dining table, Reya grabbed a fistful of buns and handed it to Cecil with an expectant look in her eyes.Cecil tried to tease her by intentionally frowning while chewing it. Reya reacted with a grumpy frown as well.Cecil chuckled before taking Reya into her arms.“Did you make this, Reya? They are so tasty! From now on, I want you to handle all bun-making duties!”Reya was delighted by Cecil’s reaction.“Okay, I will cook for you from now on! Will you teach me how to draw then?”Cecil agreed to the deal without a second thought. As soon as they finished breakfast, Reya started to drag Ce

Cecil tried to come up with an excuse to leave after changing out of her wet clothes. That was when Reya mentioned she was hungry.Cleo carried her in his arms and went straight to the restaurant without another word.Cecil had no choice but to trail after them.As soon as the three of them sat down, Cleo's phone started to ring.He took his phone and looked at the display briefly before hanging up.Cecil read the display from the corner of her eye. It was Amelia. That was when she suddenly recalled something important. Just as she was about to ask a question, another call came again. This time, Cleo activated the flight mode setting on his phone. He had done it so promptly that Cecil was taken aback by it.Two minutes later, it was Cecil’s phone that started ringing. It was an international call.As soon as she answered, she was greeted by a series of angry outbursts.“Cecil! You damned fox, where did you take Cleo?”“How did you get my number?”Cleo was seated close

Dianne wondered if they had run into Cleo that day. It would explain why they got home so late. She was surprised but could not help herself from asking more questions.Soon, Reya told her everything that had happened that afternoon. When she talked about how Cecil almost drowned, Dianne was horrified. Then, Reya began to recount the conversation between Cecil and Cleo at lunch. She could not remember everything they said, but she managed to quote several phrases they mentioned and mimicked the way Cleo looked when he spoke.“When Uncle Cleo asked Cecil if she really did not want to see him again, it looked like he was about to cry. “Then he said something about how he was only ten years older and that they were not related by blood. After that, Cecil wished him a happy wedding, and that was when Uncle Cleo flipped the table! It was so scary!”Reya had not meant anything by it since she was a child, but Dianne managed to connect the dots. She had always found it strange that
