Emma All I could hear outside was the owls wide awake just like I do. Their coos somehow accompany me through the lonely night. Crickets continuously ring my ear on the small bed I lay my body into.A faint of moonlight reached the four corners of the room. When we first came, the space of the cabin felt like it wasn’t enough. But in light of what happened, it suddenly seemed big. The light calm quietness ached my heart. Alexander never really left my mind. "You know, it isn't hard to say sorry." Lyra broke the silence. And even scoffed to mock me from my late attitude. I lacked the energy to argue with Lyra. And I’m not as stubborn as she thinks. Her words still lingered in my head. Flying around like owls reminding me of my immature actions. In the midst of the silence of the night, I understand an apology is needed. A sincere apology that may reconcile me with Alexander. We came here beaming with happiness. Smiles that made us forget the world outside. And with a single impuls

EmmaAlexander deliberately wiped the table. And placed the same utensils we used last night. He turned his gaze upon my direction.“The food is ready.”Then went back to preparing the food. Two bowls for each of us. My eyes were so busy staring at him that I didn’t even bother to check what he made for us.I forced myself to take some steps. Towards the same table with the same quiet man. My heart started beating uncomfortably. Each beat moved the surface of my chest.I bit my lower lip and acted like nothing had happened. I grabbed the fork, careful with each movement. Alexander started digging up his food while mine waited to be devoured. The first bite was still as bland as ever. Not because he was a bad cook. But because my senses were bad at the moment. The only thing I could feel was Alexander’s cold treatment. Not even a good morning or a hi when I showed myself on that door. He wasn’t talking a single word. Just plain eating like I was existing with the air. He munched his fo

EmmaI had never felt such a surge of butterfly energy lately. It was wonderful. I could barely wait outside the apartment. I kept looking toward the side of the highway, standing under the roof of the reception desk of our apartment. Minutes felt like hours. I could have outrun time itself from deep excitement.I had spent hours shaping myself into the best woman Alexander could ever lay his eyes upon. From my curly hair down to my nails, I stitched my gown into wonder and charm. I carved beauty onto my skin until it glimmered and bloomed.“How do I look? Does my makeup match with the gown?” I asked Ara, spinning lightly in front of her.“For the thousandth time, Emma, you look great right now. So relax.”“But are you sure about the gown we bought? I felt like the color was too bold for a mere guest.”The dress blazed so brightly that I thought it would be impossible to ignore. Though we had the same opinion about the elegance of the silk, I still thought the color would make me stan

Emma“Lorraine! It was wonderful to see you here.” Alexander gave his cheeks with a beaming smile. My jaw was still on the ground, hiding from them, not blinking as I stared at how they continued their small talk. It was a scene I did not want to keep watching, but I could not bear to run and not know anything.Alexander clung his arms around her waist, pulling their bodies closer to each other. Both chuckled at the joke Alexander had made.My eyes begged to leave, but my heart kept pulling me to witness the heartbreaking scene. He was too absorbed, gluing his eyes on the stunning lady. He was literally glowing with admiration. His smile almost ripped his whole face from ear to ear. They clearly enjoyed each other’s company more than anyone else.I turned my gaze toward the woman who effortlessly put a smile on his face. I could not resist looking away. I had never seen her. Though I visited the Blood Moon Pack every once in a while, I never remembered seeing her face elsewhere.Even

Emma“You’re missing a lot at the party.”I hadn’t expected any company in this secret corner, so seeing Zac standing in front of me snapped me back to reality. My cheeks were damp with tears, and I quickly wiped them with both of my hands.Zac approached the empty space beside me. He sat quietly, staring blankly at the garden bushes for a moment before asking,“What are you doing here all alone?”I didn’t want to cause any disturbance or drama that would ruin the beautiful celebration. I bowed my head in shame. It felt bad to lie to Zac.“Nothing… I’m just taking in some fresh air.”Something pressed against my chest. The guilt had already struck me from within. I wore a faint smile though inside, I was slowly crumbling.“What a coincidence then!” He grinned back. “It felt cramped inside, so I came here for a bit.”He then turned his body toward me, excitedly gesturing with his hands and face.“Have you seen the lobster earlier?” he asked.“Yes. I had some. It was great,” I answered,
