RYAN'S POV.It's already over. You can't fix us. Rose last words replay in my head as I watch her walk away. I don't want to force it right away, but I know it can't be over, not until we have our happily ever after. I'm not going to sexualize things between us. I just want us on the same page. Real connection.I lay back and rub my hands over my face thinking of a way to make things right. This is supposed to be a fun weekend not a time to get mad over what I said and didn't say.I consider writing her a letter—girls love reading love letters, right? I move to my reading table, trying not to step on something important. The room's still a mess. I think about giving her a gift too, something she’d actually like. But I don’t even know her that well yet, do I?I make a mental note to learn everything about her. Every little detail.Still, one thing I have noticed, she likes jewelry. Not just any kind, but bold, eye-catching pieces. At her engagement ceremony, she nearly burned a hole

RYAN'S POV We settle into the couch. Close, but not touching. I take a long sip from my glass. "Tell me Rose, what scares you the most?" She takes a sip of her wine and turns to me looking uncertain. "I don't know. You know it feels like we're running out of time. But there's nothing as scary as just doing the same thing, day in, year in, year out and one morning when you wake up, you realize that you're grey and have achieved nothing...no legacy, no family, no wealth... just nothing." Her words are so deep, moving past my ears down to my heart. I ponder on it for a while. "That's a lot to fear." I finally say, trying to make light of the matter. I refill my glass. "So you? What do you fear the most?" Fear is a strong word for, I don't know. "Uhm... I'm the one asking the questions." I say with a smile. "What's the one thing you've ever wanted to do in your life?" She goes blank. "I already have my path set before me by my mother. Be a religious scholar, and raise to the ranks o

ROSE'S POVI stir on my bed and block the morning light from reflecting on my face. I feel severe aches between my thighs, and it reminds me of last night. I run my fingers along my clit and wince, realizing how sore I am from last night's foreplay. I sit up, not sure how to feel about this. Last night I crossed the line. I let Ryan do things to me no man has ever done, and I loved it. It was the most exciting, and may I say, satisfying feeling in the world to have a man touch you like he worships you. I turn to his side of the bed that's now empty and inhale his masculine scent, a smile curving my lips. But it's morning now, and I can't help but feel a little awful, like I wasn't supposed to let myself feel that way, especially with him. I sit up, wrapping the duvet around my body, and wait for the regret. I wait for it, but it never comes. My family's due to return today and I had sex with my Step-uncle—oral sex.My phone rings beside me, drawing me out of my thoughts and back to rea

ROSE'S POV I don't wait for him to say anything more. I grab my bag, get off the floor, brush off my dress, and walk out the door without turning back. I keep telling myself it's over, but somehow I know I'm lying to myself because I've been trying to get rid of Ryan for the past month or so, but it's been to no avail. I slam the door shut, enter my car, and grip the steering wheel with shaking hands as I drive out of the driveway. I try to shift my attention to the activity at the school today. Student ambassador. I'm supposed to want this. But it seems I'm only doing it for my mother. I wonder how she'd react if she knew what I did last night. The moment I pack my car, I jump out, stumbling as I rush down to the pavilion. I bump into someone on my way in. I barely have time to register who it is; I just mumble a sorry and attempt to continue running off. "Hey." Professor Sharma blocks my path, grabbing my shoulders. I relax and catch my breath. "I'm sorry I'm late. Traffic." I

ROSE'S POV"You know the Hilton name is too fragile, and everyone is desperately searching for a way to bring us down, don't be their opening." Elias warns.I push past him, not waiting to hear another condemning word from his mouth. I lower my head and cover my mouth, trying to hold back my tears as I rush into my room.I wonder who else suspects Ryan and me. This is bad. I sink into my bed, holding my knees to my chest. No one can ever find out about us. No one. My body shakes involuntarily, I stand and begin pacing.Soon, Mom will send a maid to bring me down as it's mandatory ritual that whenever members of the family return from a travel, we all sit and catch up. I really wish I could escape this. It used to be fun when I was five and I didn't have much to worry about.I'm nervously waiting for someone to see my sketch Ryan put in the hallway. After long hours spent settling in, a maid knocks on my door, calling me down for the get together."Granny! How was your flight?" I strugg
