Varda's POVDavis's words were soothing and kind but it was not enough for me. I still could not leave the mansion, maybe I could not pinpoint the reason why but all I knew was that I could not leave the mansion for now. “Thank you Davis, I really do appreciate you. For caring for me and all. Thank you so much.” I said. “But…” Davis trailed off in a question tone. I guess he knew me way too well or maybe it was very obvious that I was going to refuse his proposal. Plus living with Davis was not really a good idea, I had not spoken to him in a really long while so there was a chance he was no longer the same person I used to know. I had seen a few signs that he had changed. The Davis I used to know would have never quit his job. “You do not have to be afraid of hurting my feelings Varda. I am a man, I can take no.” Davis choked out a hysteric laughter. His laughter was clearly fake and I could sense hurt in it but it was way better than leading him on or making him assume that there

Varda's POVOnce Stephen left my room. I could not help but feel uneasy, mostly guilty because everything I told Davis was a lie and now Davis had probably gotten a worse impression of Stephen. What was I even thinking? Why did I say such a thing? I groaned in frustration and buried my face in my pillow. I mentally scolded myself for all of that. Why did I let my emotions get the best of me? I could have at least calmed down before speaking to Davis. I should not have reacted immediately and now I could not help but wallow in complete and utter regret. I spent the entire night regretting over and over again until I eventually dozed off. The next morning, I was woken up by loud music echoing from outside. I groaned in frustration, refusing to snap my eyes open but the music only seemed to get louder in my ears.I eventually snapped my eyes open and I almost got blinded by the rays of sunlight reflecting from the window. I groaned loudly and rolled to the other side of the bed, almos

Varda's POV Fransisca was clearly dumbfounded by my level of confidence. Honestly, I was too. I never thought I could be this bold but then it was probably because I had taken enough of her attitude and now, it was my turn to reciprocate. She scoffed at me in disbelief and shook her head. “I can not believe this Varda. You dare talk to me in such manner. In front of my own child?” She paused to run a hand through her hair in frustration. “You really think of yourself so high, don't you?” I rolled my eyes at her. “The only reason I am holding back from doing anything worse is because of Asher. Unlike you, I actually care about him and that is actually sad because he is not even my biological son.” I said. I paused to sneak a glance at Asher, it seemed like he did not understand anything of what was going on. I mean it was obvious that he knew that I and his mother were clearly fighting but he could not tell if it was something serious. Fransisca clenched her fist tight and just as

Varda's POV“I guess you are stuck with me for an entire day.” I shot dagger glares at Clara so she escorted me out of the mansion. Stephen was already standing besides the black jeep, waiting for us. Although he was currently engrossed in a conversation with the driver and it seemed to be a serious conversation. “You do not sound very excited.” Clara was smiling. I rolled my eyes. “Why would I be?” “We are going to have a lot of fun together Varda, trust me.” Clara looked very excited and I could not help but wonder why. What was so exciting about tagging along with me? It was not like we were friends or like we had anything to talk about. The few times I had spent with her were centered around arguments upon arguments. We finally reached Stephen and the moment I arrived, I noticed Stephen stopped talking to the driver almost too quickly, like he did not want me to hear his discussion with the driver. “Are you excited?” Stephen's voice jolted me out of my thoughts. I forced a sm

Varda's POV The driver pulled to a stop in front of the gate. I got off the car and honestly, I expected Clara to get off as well but to my uttermost surprise, she remained in the car with her legs crossed and her arms folded like she was the queen of the universe. I rolled my eyes. “Are you not coming? Or are you expecting me to open the doors for you?” I snapped at her. Clara smiled and shook her head in disagreement. “Huge pass. I would rather stay in the car than listen to your boring conversation with your ex boyfriend.” “Friend.” I immediately corrected her and she nodded her head and spoke in a mocking tone. “Right, friend.”“Anyways, are you sure it is okay if you stay in the car? What happened to never disobeying Stephen because he pays your bills?” I raised a brow at her. “Well, Stephen will never find out. Unless you plan on telling him that I did not escort you into your boyfriend's house?” Clara smiled mischievously. I rolled my eyes at her again. I hated how she som
