Varda's POV "What? What the hell are you talking about Stephen? What do you mean by Asher stays with you but I leave? I am his mother!" Fransisca was beginning to lose her shit again and I bet Stephen could tell that because of how he immediately called some of his bodyguards and in less than a minute they appeared right in front of Stephen. Stephen turned to them to bark orders. "Take her somewhere else until she cools down." He said and without wasting a second, the bodyguards rushed towards Fransisca and slowly pulled her out of the kitchen. She kept yelling and crying, it was such a horrific sight for me, talk more of Asher.Stephen turned to one of the maids. "Take him to his room and make sure he is relaxed, give him whatever he wants and do well to make him feel comfortable." Stephen ordered. The maid nodded her head in agreement and gently lifted Asher up, she held him in her arms and took him out of the kitchen. Asher must have been too dumbfounded to even say a word or mayb

Varda's POV "Just because you are the head of the maids or something does not mean you get to act like you own their opinions or something. They just work for you and that is it. I do not think you have the right to control their speech or something. That is clearly just abuse of power and you of all people knows that." I snapped at Elisa with a scowl on my face. She might not want to admit it but that was exactly what she was doing, she was abusing her power, controlling the maids and making sure they did not get to have an opinion of their own, to her it was nothing but to me, it said a lot about her. She was just like Stephen and even though she was not ready to admit that yet, I saw it in her and I bet everyone else in the mansion did too, that explained why the maids and servants were afraid of Elisa, it was because they knew that she was just like Stephen. I guessed that was why Elisa and Stephen were best of friends, they got along so well because their opinions and actions we

Chapter Fifty SixI could not stop sneaking glances at Celine no matter how hard I tried not to. I was overwhelmed by the anxiety and I kept having thoughts about Stephen actually finding out my mission throughout my one week of freedom, that would ruin everything. My freedom was literally in the palm of Stephen's hands and if I screwed up then I would probably never be getting a chance at it anymore, no freedom, no helping Alex catch his killer, just me living miserable in this mansion.Celine on the other hand struggled to avoid eye contact with me and it made me wonder if she actually turned herself in. If she did then that would make matters even worse because that meant we would both be in trouble and they could do the exact same thing they did to Florence to Celine as well and that was the last thing I wanted, to drag anybody else down with him.I sighed heavily and rubbed the back of my neck in frustration. My goodness, could I ever even get a break from all of this? It was lik

Varda's POVUngrateful? Me? What did the hell did Stephen mean by that? Why did he always make it seem like he was doing me a favour? I was clearly the one being punished here and if there was one person doing somebody a favour, then it was me doing him a favour. I was stuck in this mansion out of my own free will and for some weird reason unknown to me, that sounds like him doing me a favour? I scoffed loudly and shook my head in disdain. I stumped my foot on the grass and rested on the bench.I was angry that I had to sit outside in the garden because I assumed the cool breeze would calm me down. Stephen was annoying. Like I said earlier, no matter how much I hated Fransisca, snatching her son from her just sounded like too much and I was not heartless enough to do that plus Asher and I never really got along well in the first place so what was the point? How was i supposed to express motherly love to someone I did not even know? It was not like I had been a mother before, I had ze

Varda's POVCeline was obviously taken aback by my sudden question and i actually felt bad for asking but if I was going to trust her with anything then I needed to at least know what kind of person she was. Why was she stealing from Elisa? I wanted to believe that there had to be a good reason behind it. Celine seemed pure, my instinct kept telling me that she was a good person and my instinct had never actually been wrong with people. My instinct could never go wrong about people. Celine was a good person, she was just probably pressured or something."It feels so good talking about someone else rather than talking about your own self huh." Celine chuckled nervously. It was my turn to place a hand on Celine's shoulder. I rubbed her left arm gently and stared into her warm brown eyes. "Feel free with me Celine, i will not judge." I said in a gentle tone.Celine nodded her head at me in agreement. She wiped the drop of tears from her eyes and gazed at me with a straight face. "I stole
