ucy’s POVThe first day of the business trip goes really well. Nathan meets with clients, and I gain firsthand experience of how everything works. It’s safe to say that I'm getting the hang of this business thing, even if I do say so myself, and I can already imagine handling my parents’ business. We finish for the day around seven in the evening. I'm beat, as are the others, and I for one can't wait to take a long, hot bath, eat some dinner, and fall into bed.Nathan gets held up in a discussion with one of his clients after we’re done, so the driver takes me back to the hotel alone, where I head straight to my room and turn on the television to see what's on the gossip channels.Surprisingly, there isn’t anything on the news about Nathan and Diane, for now, at least. Leaving the television on, I take off my clothes and go soak in the bath as I planned to do earlier.I’m toweling off to get ready for bed, when I hear familiar voices coming from the television. I freeze in place, my b

“Oh, my goodness!” The female anchor exclaims, her hands flying up to cover her mouth.“Yeah, I know, it's shocking, right? Anyway, she was insistent about getting married fast, which was quite suspicious, but Austin was probably blinded by the fact that he had always wanted children. He wanted to do it the traditional way. A few weeks after the wedding, she came up with a sob story about how she lost the baby while Austin was on a trip.”“I can't believe the lengths that some people would go to. Damn!”.Suddenly, I notice Austin nudging Amy insistently. I know him quite well, and I know that he's indirectly asking her to stop, but she doesn't stop. Instead, she smiles sweetly at him and speaks.“Poor Austin doesn’t like to have his business in the open for everyone to know, but I think he’s too forgiving. People should know the lengths that some gold-diggers are willing to go just to get a rich man for themselves. Other men should take note.”“So how did you know that she wasn’t preg

Amy’s POVThis asshole isn’t even listening to what I’m saying. He has gone on his usual daydreaming about that woman, and I'm fairly certain that he regrets sending her away. Well, too bad for him, because now, she’s gone for good, and he's stuck with me."Why do you hate Lucy so much? I mean, you guys were friends at one point, right? What happened to make you hate her?" He asks me."I hate her, she's so dumb and acts like the victim all the time. It's really irritating. I know why she does it, though. It's because men like damsels in distress, and she's a sucker for male attention.""That isn't true, and you know it. Anyway, with your prowess in lying, one can't believe anything that comes out of your mouth, so why am I even bothering to ask? Hey, don't look at me like that. I don't really care about Lucy or anything like that. I was just making conversation. Anyway, do you think she’s okay?” Austin asks me.“Why? What is it to you? You just said you don't care.”“Nothing, of cours

I have never really cared about dimples, but on him, they look so breathtaking that I catch myself staring up at him for longer than is necessary or appropriate again, until he speaks.“Earth to you, Lucy! Anyway, I know you said you're fine, but I was wondering if you’d like to come down to the bar for a drink or two to take your mind off this whole saga. I mean, it sure as hell beats sitting or lying alone here and thinking about what those two riffraffs did.” He offers.I snap back to attention immediately, my face flushing as I wonder if he noticed that I was staring at him in a way that was definitely not 'employee-like.' I find him staring at me with an unreadable, but not unpleasant, look on his face.Of course, he noticed me staring at him. He’s not blind, after all. I make a mental note to get my wits about me and try to remember what he asked me.“A … a drink? Are you not too tired for that?”“Not really. I mean, I'm a little tired, but not too tired for some company, especi

Nathan’s POV“Here you go. Enjoy your drinks.” The bartender tells us, setting our drinks down on the table.“Thank you,” I tell him, as does Lucy. Inwardly, I wish he hadn't come at the time he did. Lucy quickly takes a huge gulp of her drink, and I have the feeling that she is nervous and is trying to hide her nervousness.Damn it! I shouldn’t have stared at her like a hungry kid in a candy shop, but I just couldn't help it, because I thought that we were having a moment. Apparently, I was wrong..“I like this drink so much. Usually, I don’t like alcoholic drinks, because I'm such a lightweight, but this one is very nice.” She tells me, taking another quick gulp and looking anywhere but at me. Yes, I was right. She’s nervous.“You should take it easy with gulping that drink down the way you're doing, Lucy, especially if you're lightweight as you said.” I caution her, and finally, she looks at me and smiles sheepishly.“Yes, you're probably right. I probably should.”“So,I hope you
