After my mate Ethan's brother, the Alpha of Shadow Moon Pack, died in the territory war, my mate inherited everything from his brother, including his widowed sister-in-law Victoria. For the past six months, he has gone to Victoria's room every night, promising that once Victoria bears an heir, he would declare me as the pack's true Luna.At their mating ceremony, I dialed a number I hadn't called in five years:"Mother, I already have an heir now. I'm ready to come home and claim your Alpha position."……After tucking my daughter into bed, I opened my phone to book flights back to Silver Crescent territory.Unfortunately, our pack had thrived under my mother's leadership, and many wolves were seeking to visit our lands. The earliest flight I could get was five days from now.I stared at the date on the ticket, momentarily stunned.February 14th. Valentine's Day. Also the five-year anniversary of when Ethan marked me.It felt like some cosmic joke of fate.I pulled my lips into a bitter

As I expected, Ethan didn't return all night. But when my hand touched the other side of the bed and felt only cold emptiness, I couldn't help the ache in my heart. The knocking on the door grew louder with each rap.I opened it to find the Elder's assistant looking at me with pure disdain."The old lady says to bring the child to the pack house," he stated flatly. The pack matriarch—Ethan's grandmother—had always looked down on me.According to Silver Crescent law, if I didn't return to inherit my position, I couldn't reveal my status as heir to anyone outside our pack.So she always saw me as just a shameless Omega trying to climb the social ladder through her grandson. Her contempt extended to my daughter as well. With the matriarch setting such an example, the rest of the pack naturally followed suit. When we arrived at the great hall of the main house, I discovered all the members of the pack council were present.Ethan, who had vanished for the night, stood beside Victoria, suppo

"Ethan, is this what you want too?" I asked, noticing the fresh love bite exposed on Victoria's neck as she lifted her chin.My heart ached with fine, needle-like pains, persistent and sharp. This amethyst had been our bonding token. We first met at a charity auction where we both set our eyes on this crystal. The amethyst possessed exceptional healing properties, valued at 10 million dollars. On the night Ethan marked me, he hand-wove a cord and tied the amethyst around my neck.He promised me forever that night.I knew Victoria coveted it. She had asked Ethan for it numerous times, but he always refused. But this time, he averted his gaze, his eyes filled with hesitation and guilt."Maybe you should—""Fine."I laughed bitterly, yanking the amethyst from my neck and placing it in Victoria's outstretched hand.As Victoria gleefully put it on, I remarked, "It suits you perfectly. But remember to transfer the 10 million dollars to my account."Then I left with my daughter, leaving Ethan

Joy instantly filled my heart. I showed the latest message to my daughter:"Lily, look! Daddy remembered."My daughter's downcast head shot up, her face breaking into an ecstatic smile:"Daddy must have prepared lots of gifts for me! Mommy, let's go quickly!"Having received Ethan's affirmative response, Lily chatted excitedly the entire way.She kept guessing what gifts her father might have prepared for her.But when we arrived at the pack house, the roses decorating every corner made my heart sink. These weren't decorations meant for a child's birthday party.Lily didn't notice, eagerly pulling my hand as she rushed inside.I could only follow her anxiously, my heart growing heavier with each step.Ethan, please don't do something that can't be undone. In the banquet hall, Lily's eyes lit up when she saw Ethan standing by a cake. She ran joyfully into his arms, shouting, "Daddy!"Ethan stared at the child in his arms, his pupils constricting as he asked in shock:"Why are you here?"

The pack members around us stood stunned.Ethan and Victoria stood in the crowd, their faces ashen.Only Lily, my precious Lily, looked up at me as if seeing a hero."Mommy, you're so amazing!"I lifted her into my arms and addressed Ethan:"Mr. Blackwood, I apologize, but Lily is only my child. She has no connection to Shadow Moon Pack.""We'll leave immediately."The next moment, a guard seized my free right arm.Victoria's venomous voice came from behind:"Do you think you can come and go from the pack house as you please?""Beat her and throw her out!"The guard's grip was powerful. I could hear the bones in my right wrist cracking.I had once been Silver Crescent's finest warrior, raised in battle since childhood, growing up amid inter-pack conflicts. During these years with Ethan, life had been too peaceful. He had no idea I was a skilled fighter.Anticipating the guard would next kick at my knees, I kicked his shin instead and flipped him over my shoulder.Lily's wailing stopped

At that same moment, Ethan, who was exchanging rings with Victoria, felt a sharp pain in his chest.Seeing the message on his phone, he dropped the ring in his hand and stumbled out of the hotel: "To the airport!"But it was too late.As our plane took off, I looked down at the city growing smaller below us. For five years, I had put my life on hold, believing in promises that were never meant to be kept.Lily fell asleep against my shoulder, exhausted from the emotional turmoil of the past few days.I gently stroked her hair, my brave little warrior who had shown more courage than many grown wolves."We're going home," I whispered.Ethan stared at his phone as the cold dial tone continued, his brow furrowing deeper. He impatiently urged the driver:"Can't you go any faster? The pack can easily pay for your traffic tickets!"The driver wiped sweat from his forehead and explained miserably:"Alpha, it's not that I don't want to hurry, but there are too many people on the streets for Val

Ethan sprawled carelessly on the sofa, scrolling through our old messages. The blue light from his phone cast harsh shadows across his face, highlighting the dark circles under his eyes. For the past six months, our conversations had been pitiful."When was the last time she actually initiated a conversation?" he muttered to himself, thumb flicking upward through the message history. Most messages were from me, asking if he'd eaten on time, if he'd slept well. Simple questions that received one-word answers: "Yes." "Fine." "Later."And without fail, the day after he visited Victoria's room, I wouldn't respond to his messages all day. No matter how many times he texted. No matter what he said.It was my way of expressing anger. A silent protest he had grown accustomed to ignoring. The messages grew fewer until a week ago, when I stopped asking about his daily life altogether. The last thread of our connection, severed. He sat up, his brow furrowing. The realization hit him like a physic

Ethan got out of his car, straightened his clothes, and put on a poker face. His wolf senses were on high alert, already detecting something off about the atmosphere surrounding the villa. He thought to himself that while he would comfort me, he also needed to make me understand the gravity of my actions. His Alpha instincts demanded he establish boundaries."I'll be gentle but firm," he muttered to himself. "She needs to learn her place."So that in the future, I wouldn't just take our child and run away on a whim. No Alpha's mate should have such freedom, he reasoned, ignoring the voice inside that reminded him I wasn't just any mate—I was a Silver Crescent heir.He pushed open the door, ready to receive me as I fell into his arms. His chest puffed slightly, already rehearsing the magnanimous speech he would give when I inevitably apologized. But the person who looked up at him was Victoria. She was on the verge of tears, her mascara already running down her cheeks in black rivulets.

Victoria's eyes widened in shock and hurt. This wasn't the gentle, considerate Ethan who had visited her chambers."To be clear, I never intended to mate with you from the beginning." He held her gaze, making sure she understood the depth of his deception.Victoria struggled, her usually delicate face contorted with rage. The sweet facade dropped completely."Why?" she spat, her own claws extending in defense. "You came to ME! You pursued ME!"Ethan smiled wickedly, a predator toying with prey. "You really have no self-awareness, do you?"His grip tightened slightly. "I only agreed to the Mating Ceremony with you as revenge for you abandoning me for power all those years ago."Victoria's struggle stilled, confusion replacing anger. "What are you talking about?""Before my brother, there was me. Or have you conveniently forgotten?" Ethan's voice dropped to a dangerous whisper. "You chose him because he was next in line for Alpha. And now you've tried the same game again."Realization da

Meanwhile, on the plane heading to Silver Crescent territory, the cabin hummed with whispers. They were saying that Ethan Blackwood had run away from his wedding.Wasn't this the ceremony he had always dreamed of? The one he had prioritized over his own daughter's birthday? The path to power he'd chosen over us?"I heard Ethan Blackwood ran because his ex-girlfriend left him!" one woman whispered to her companion across the aisle, her perfume too strong for my sensitive wolf nose."Wasn't his ex Victoria?" her friend replied, leaning closer. "I always heard she was his true love. He was so heartbroken when she left him that he ran off to Silver Crescent territory.""My cousin works for Shadow Moon's council. She says the engagement ceremony was only halfway done when he just... left.""That's old news!" A third woman. "He had another girlfriend in Silver Crescent, and they even have a daughter together! Apparently, she fled with the child and that's why he's chasing after them!"Beside
