ARIA For a moment, I didn't move. Infact, I couldn't move. My body was stuck, as though any move from me would startle Nyx over the edge of the balcony. “Nyx,” I said again, trying not to be too loud. “Please back away from the edge.” Her shoulders shook as she sobbed harder for a moment. Finally, she turned her head to meet my eyes. Her lashes were silver with tears, and her face was pale, except for the blotchy flush of crying. “I’m not…” She stopped when her voice cracked and shook her head. “I’m not going to throw myself down there.” My chest stopped pumping so hard, and the relief I felt was almost painful. I didn't stop moving until I wrapped my arms around her shoulder and helped her off the edge, careful to not look down myself. She stepped back from the railing and once she was on solid ground, she looked away, dropping her eyes to the floor. “I’m just… tired, Aria.
