Cora's POVAs the sound of a woman’s horrified scream continues to ricochet through the woods, Felicity and I exchange a cautious glance. We keep running, though our pace slows somewhat. We’re already beyond the border and outside the pack’s protection–I can feel the underlying danger of this area. But the more we open our ears up, the more there is to listen to. Another scream, a shrill, horrified shriek that conjures the most vile images to mind. Then another. Then a single word:“Please!” Without saying a word, Felicity and I move as one, veering off course and sprinting towards the source of the sound. “I think–I think it came from somewhere over here,” Felicity gasps out. We push through the underbrush, brambles and nettles tugging at our skin.
