Alice’s POVKlaus blinked. “What?”“You heard me clearly. Are you really just friends with Diana?”He didn’t respond immediately. Instead, he just stared at me as if I just asked the dumbest question ever. Each second of the silence made my heart hammer against my ribs.“Why are you asking that kind of question?”“I just want an answer, Klaus.”“Are you…jealous?” He asked, a smile forming on his face. “Pftttt,” I scoffed while rolling my eyes. “Jealous of what? You must be joking.”“So tell me,” he whispered, tracing a finger on my lips. “Why are you suddenly so interested?” My face burned. “I just want to know.”“Could it be that my wife wants only me for herself? If that’s the case, I’d be more than willing to comply.”This man. So shameless. “But seriously, tell me,” I asked looking into his eyes. “Diana is just my friend,” he said. “But she’s also a very important person in my life.” I felt relieved before hearing his last sentence. So he admits she’s important to him. “So y

Alice’s POVThe next morning, I felt refreshed and so full of life. I just couldn’t stop smiling as memories of Klaus flooded my mind. His scent, his touch, the taste of his lips. Everything made a light shiver pass over my skin. “Alice, did something happen?” Diana asked. “Uhmm, nothing.”“You sure? You seem to be in a really great mood.”“Do I?”“Very.” I lowered my gaze, trying to hide my smile. “Let me guess,” Diana said. “Klaus happened, right?”A blush crept to my face. “Something like that,” I replied, my voice barely a whisper. I was acting like a teenage girl who got asked on a date by her crush. So embarrassing. “We had…a moment.”Suddenly, the smile on Diana’s face stiffened before widening. “Really?”“Yeah.”“C’mon, tell me all about it.”“Nah. Not happening,” I chuckled while I continued to wash the veggies. “You know what? I think it’s high time I told you personal things about Klaus.”“Okay?”Diana leaned forward, her pale skin sparking under the reflection of the

Alice’s POVEverywhere was dark, only illuminated by the streetlights. I kept walking, each step felt heavy but my chest was heavier. I didn’t know where I was going, I just wanted to get away from him, from everything and the taste of betrayal on my tongue. My feet were sore, my eyes burned but still, I felt numb, empty. I suddenly lost track of time and didn’t know how long I had been walking. Then, I saw myself standing in front of a cafe. I stared through the glass window. Everybody chatted freely and cheerfully. They all looked happy, except me. Slowly, I pushed the door open and walked inside. I chose a table in a far dark corner and sat down. It wasn’t long before a waitress came over. “Good evening miss, what would you like?” “Coffee,” I replied weakly. “Do you want it sweetened or just plain?”I didn’t reply, I just lowered my gaze. “Miss?”“I’ll take anything.”She paused, a trace of concern flickering in her eyes. “Alright, I’ll be right back.”A few minutes later, t

Alice’s POVKlaus’ words were like thunder, echoing through the alley and rendering everyone motionless. The men’s faces were pale like white sheets, pure fear flickering in their eyes. Then one of the men shoved me aside and rushed towards Klaus. But he was too slow as Klaus effortlessly caught his wrist before it could reach his face and twisted his hands behind his back. A grunt escaped from the man as Klaus drove a knife into his stomach before finally slitting his throat. Blood gushed out from his throat, splashing across my face. Then the man dropped to his knees, clutching at his neck before dropping dead. I froze, my stomach twisting violently. A thick, suffocating silence descended. The other men exchanged glances, their bodies trembling uncontrollably. I looked at Klaus and he was like a totally different person. There wasn’t hesitation nor mercy in his eyes, only pure lust for blood. “Run!” One of the men shouted. They all turned around to run but Klaus caught the last

Klaus’ POVEver since I rescued Alice from those men, my mind hadn’t been at rest. The image of the dragon tattoo flashed in my mind. I knew that drawing too well. It belonged to someone I never wanted to cross paths with. I released a shaky breath while holding my temple. No. It’s not possible. They were all annihilated. My mind drifted to Alice. She had asked if I knew those men. It was better if she was kept in the dark. My phone rang, but the name that popped up made my heart skip a beat. He only called when there was an emergency or when something was really wrong. “Damien, any news?”“Boss,” he replied, his voice quivering. “He’s back.”My body went cold but I still dared to ask. “Who?”“Jackson Magnus.”I froze, blood draining from my face. My hands clenched into fists, trembling uncontrollably.“Impossible,” I muttered to myself. If he was back, then Alice wasn’t safe. And neither was I. My grip on my phone tightened. “How long has he been back?”“We don’t know, Boss.”T
