Alice’s POVEverywhere was dark, only illuminated by the streetlights. I kept walking, each step felt heavy but my chest was heavier. I didn’t know where I was going, I just wanted to get away from him, from everything and the taste of betrayal on my tongue. My feet were sore, my eyes burned but still, I felt numb, empty. I suddenly lost track of time and didn’t know how long I had been walking. Then, I saw myself standing in front of a cafe. I stared through the glass window. Everybody chatted freely and cheerfully. They all looked happy, except me. Slowly, I pushed the door open and walked inside. I chose a table in a far dark corner and sat down.
