CHAPTER 021

The sun is unforgiving, hanging directly above the trees in a taunting, slow manner, yet burning the eyes and pouring heat over everything; even the wind seems too lazy to blow. Kieran tightens his grip on the steering wheel as the truck bumps along the dirt path. His shirt clings to his skin with sweat. Even with the windows rolled down, it doesn't help. He tsks. Why is it so hot today? He hisses in annoyance and pulls at the neck of his shirt, hoping for some sort of relief, but it only adds to his frustration. Just another awful reminder why he hates doing this.He hates delivering supplies to the Omega mansion. It's not because he dislikes Omegas, his brother is one, so that's impossible, but because the air around that place always feels different, lighter, and tsk, sweater. There are too many scents tangled together, all soft and alluring, making it hard for an alpha like him to breathe right. It's too hectic but what choice does he have, as the future alpha, he needs to make s

CHAPTER 022

The pack clinic smells of antiseptic and blood, it's thick in the air.Seth is wiping down one of the counters, trying hard to ignore the sting in his nose. The scent of the healing herbs always makes him nauseous and today feels worse than usual. His shirt sticks to his back with sweat and the collar of his sweater suddenly makes it hard to breathe. He glances at the clock, it's almost lunchtime. He needs to get out of here.“Hey, Seth!” One of the nurses calls out loud. He doesn't flinch as he slowly looks at her. “Sterilize those bowls for the next round. Understood?”He nods, then he picks up the bowl and takes a step towards the sink when the doors of the clinic burst open without warning, followed by shouts and orders.Seth reels to the commotion and watches as Kieran rushes in, supporting an injured male, followed by two wounded wolves on makeshift stretchers while a third one limps behind them, one arm wrapped around his chest, blood soaking through his shirt.“Clear the beds!

CHAPTER 023

Lena bursts into the pack clinic without warning, her eyes as hard as stone and her sour scent all over the places as she scans around the room, and the matches towards the front counter with a nurses behind it, giving her puzzled looks but Lena doesn't care what anything thinks of her appearance, the evening wind hadn't been friendly, it blew harshly and ruined her hair and makeup, adding to her rage and misery. She slams her palm on the table, her eyes shooting daggers at the nurse. “Where is Kieran?” She demands and the nurses don't hesitate to point towards the direction she knew the young alpha went. The clinic is still buzzing with movements, nurses moving between rooms, working on wounded wolves and dear moon goddess, the smell of blood is nauseating.Just before Lena could go find him, Kieran quietly walks out of one of the patient rooms, wiping sweat from his brow. She hisses in annoyance and storms towards him, her heel boots clicking hard against the floor and her lips set

CHAPTER 024

Kieran stands before the council members, each of them scans him over, it's been twenty minutes since Kieran got here and he is starting to lose his patience—anyone can see that with the way he shifts his weight from one leg to the other, hands clenching and unclenching.“Do you know why we called you here today, young alpha?” Finally, elder Mora breaks the silence.“I do not,” comes Kieran's flat reply.“We have no doubt you will make a great alpha like your father but just as your father and everyone else who has led Asbroune pack, it's time for your trials,”Kieran's eyes expand. He has spent his whole life training for this moment. The trials that would make him the true alpha, an alpha that no one will ever dare question. “I'm ready,” he says with his chin high and green eyes glimmering with determination and a hint of glee.Elder Harrison leans back, pinning Kieran with a concrete stare. “Now we have no doubt that you are capable of passing these trials like every other alpha but

CHAPTER 025

The day for the mate trial comes faster than Kieran expected. Indeed he has excelled in the other trials, the elders, his father, and the rest of the pack was proud that he could pull it off but this trial is different, it doesn't require physical strength, it tests his state of stability and sensibleness, not allowing himself to be controlled by instincts. He needs to control his lust and desire.Kieran sits on his bed, with only his trousers on, his torso completely naked, his feet on the floor, his body leans down as his elbows rests on his knees and rubs his palms together that's moist with sweat. The lights in the room has been switched off, with only but the ritual candles lighting everywhere, the window wide open, the moon light peeking in and the cool breeze of the night blowing in softly, brushing against his bare skin and causing shivers to run through his spine, fixed with the scent of something sweet in the air, everything to simulate the bond.Kieran is nervous. He has dat

CHAPTER 026 (18+)

When the doors creak open, Kieran's heart drops to his stomach when he sees him—Seth, tall and silent with his hoodie sweater over his hair, led in by two guards. The guards shoves him forward and the scent of him hits Kieran like a slow to the face; earth, rain, fire, home, his wolf immediately recognizes him.Kieran doesn't want to feel that, not now, not ever. It's disgusting.“Father,” Kieran turns to his father, his breath shaky. “You can't do this to me. We can finish the trial, Lena and I, this isn't necessary, Please father!”Alpha Dagon's expression is one of stone. “You know the rules, the final part of the trial is to resist your mate, Lena cannot be a substitute for your mate, she is not yours. And it's a must that you must complete the trial,”“You are forcing me!” Kieran growls, his hands balling into fist, he can feel veins owning his forehead as anger and frustration surges through him. “You are forcing me to let a man touch me like that? Have you thought about what thi

CHAPTER 027 (18+)

“Stop,” Kieran repeats, looking at Seth with a flushed face—cheeks redder than a tomato and eyes so glassy they shone. How pretty.Seth's hands strokes his stomach. “You want me to stop?” Kieran doesn’t answer, he can’t. His brain is foggy, his skin is burning, his wolf is howling, and he is gripping the sheets so tight his knuckles are white. Shame clings to him like second skin.Seth moves down to kiss him but Kieran snaps his head away, blocking his lips with a hand. “No,” Kieran says firmly, the words having two meanings; don't stop and don't kiss him. “You don’t get to do that.”Seth's eyes narrow. He clips Kieran's chin, bringing his face back to look at him and takes his hand over his face. He swiftly leans in but Kieran slams his eyes shut, so tightly that they hurt while his fingers digs into the sheets. He expects Seth's lips but they don't come. Second passes and he reopens his eyes to find Seth's face inches away from his. Kieran breath hitches. “Why did you stop?”Seth’s

CHAPTER 028

The dining hall of the pack house is full of chatter and laughter. Long tables lined with trays of roasted meat, steamed vegetables, bread rolls, and bottles of wine. It's meant to be a celebration—Kieran has passed all his trials, and the pack is proud, or at least, they seem to be, because Kieran isn't proud of what he has done or what he has become, a laughingstock behind his back. Even if Seth hadn't said a word to anyone, rumors are still going to spread, and there's nothing he can do about them other than wait for all the nightmares to be over. Kieran sits at the center of the table, his shoulder stiff, his jaw tight, while his eyes are fixed on his untouched plate of food. He doesn't think he can digest anything. He can still feel the tingles of touch on every part of his body and the bite marks are oddly taking time to heal, causing him to wear a turtleneck shirt in the fucking heat. His fingers are locked together under the table, his knuckles turning pale from how tightly h

CHAPTER 029

Castel bursts through the doors of the pack clinic with a bright smile on her face, nearly skipping with excitement. Her eyes scan the room until they land on Seth, wiping floors at the corner.“There you are!” she beams as she sprints towards him.Seth looks up, raising an eyebrow. “Me?”She grabs his wrist without asking and tugs him down the hallway.“Castel, I'm working. Where are we going?” he protests without resisting her pull; he finds that pointless.“Storage room,” she whispers dramatically. “We need to talk.”They slip into the small storage room; Castel shuts the door behind them and spins around to face him.“Okay,” she grins, eyes glimmering. “I want details. All of it.”Seth pins her with a blank stare. “Details of what?”“Oh, don’t play innocent,” she says, jabbing a finger against his chest. “You know exactly what I’m talking about. The trial. You and Kieran. Did you really touch him? Kiss him? Did he let you? Tell me about it. It's all over the pack and I want all the

CHAPTER 030

Kieran wakes up with a jolt on his bed, his chest rising and falling rapidly. He looks out the window, the sun is barely in the sky but his skin; it's burns. Sweat clings to his forehead and neck and his lower half…shit! His breath hitches as he snaps his head down.“Fuck.” He hisses in annoyance and yanks the blanket off, welcomed with an erection between his legs that throbs, it's insistent, hot and needy. No matter how much he shifts, it doesn't go away. He groans as he runs hand over his face, his thoughts already a chaotic mess.Lena. That's who he wants, that's who he should want, she's his mate, his Luna, his future not someone else. Kieran chants the words in his head like it's a prayer, over and over again till they stick, till his wolf and body believes it.He gets out of bed and goes to the bathroom, slamming the door shut a bit too loudly. He strips himself of his clothes and gets under the shower, turning it on and letting the water flow down his body. His hands slowly m
