Shemika's POV "You didn't explain," I said quietly, almost not too interested in the matter anymore. "She came to me crying about shit and just like that she tried to force herself. I shoved her away but I didn't mean to hurt her. I felt bad for pushing her down, so I just wanted to apologize to her and then you walked in. Nothing was happening, I swear to you, Shemika." Bishop explained, eyes wide open in desperation to be believed. "Nothing is going on, Shemika. If there was, I'd tell you." He added smoothly. I stared into his eyes. He looked sincere. But between the dead performer, the man on the rooftop, and the button still in my pocket, I didn't know what to believe anymore. "I shouldn't have come tonight," I murmured. "Why not?" he asked. I didn't answer. My eyes fell to my plate. My stomach growled softly, betraying me. "Eat something," he said gently. "You've had a rough day." I finally picked up my fork and took a bite. The food was warm, rich, and comforting.
