ELLIE"Come on," he murmured against my lips, his voice rough gravel that sent shivers racing down my spine. "Before I decide to fuck you right here in the parking garage."I shuddered, I didn't know if he meant it as a threat but it sounded more like a promise, one that made my imagination spiral as I pictured being fucked against one of these cars. Fuck. I was soaked, so much so that walking felt like a chore, I could feel just how slippery I was between my legs, my stomach clenched with anticipation. He led me toward the elevator, his strides never slowing even as I stumbled slightly behind him, my legs still shaky from the kiss, from everything. The elevator doors slid open and we stepped inside, the small space suddenly feeling even smaller with the tension crackling between us.The moment the doors closed, Silas had me against the wall, his body caging me in as his mouth found mine again. This kiss was different—slower but somehow more intense, like he was savoring it. His to

SILAS Ellie was panicking. She held it well, probably thinking we wouldn't notice, but her hair had gone almost as pale as the golden tresses that fell against her skin. Her blue eyes darted around, looking anywhere but at me...and I couldn't get my eyes off her still. Lorenzo was in his study, but I could hear his voice from here as he barked orders to men who were probably shitting their pants from his tone. Despite how quiet he thought himself to be, he was pissed off—much like I was. And as refreshing as it was to see the man lose control, I hated it. Because it also meant the situation was dire. Probably why Noir was back in the basement and I was on babysitting duty. Not that I minded. The memories of last night were still fresh in my mind, so fresh that I was currently sporting a hard-on just watching her tongue dart out of her lips nervously. I'd tasted that yesterday, tasted every inch of her, and it wasn't enough. So much for fucking her out of my system. It was awfully

SILASI left the safe house without telling anyone where I was going.Probably stupid. Definitely reckless. But sitting around waiting for Elijah to make his move felt like slowly suffocating, and I'd never been good at playing the patient game. The night air hit my face as I stepped outside, cool and sharp, cutting through some of the rage that had been building in my chest. I pulled my leather jacket tighter and headed for my bike, the familiar weight of my gun pressing against my lower back—a comforting reminder that I wasn't completely defenseless.I needed information. Needed to know what the fuck Elijah was planning, who he was bringing, how he planned to get past our defenses. Lorenzo could strategize all he wanted from behind his desk, but I worked better on the streets, in the shadows where information flowed like currency between the right people. The engine roared to life beneath me, vibrating through my body as I kicked off and merged into the sparse late-night traffic. Th

Oh God.I couldn't breathe. Couldn't think past the image his words painted, past the way my body responded with embarrassing eagerness despite the soreness still singing through me from last night."You were with Lorenzo first," he continued, and there was an edge to his voice now. Something raw and bleeding. "Then Silas. And I've been trying to stay the fuck away, trying to give you space, trying to be better than this." His forehead pressed against mine, his breathing ragged. "But I'm not better. I'm selfish and fucked up and I want you so goddamn badly I can't think straight anymore.""Noir..." His name came out like a plea, though I wasn't sure what I was pleading for."Tell me I'm wrong." His other hand found my waist, fingers spreading across my ribs and burning through the thin fabric. "Tell me you don't feel this too, and I'll back off. I'll watch you be with them and I won't say another fucking word about it."But I couldn't tell him he was wrong. Because he wasn't."I feel

ELLIE Three hours after my conversation with Lorenzo, I was in the kitchen trying to convince myself that making chicken stir-fry would somehow stop my brain from spiraling. It wasn't working.Oil heated in the wok on the stove, the air already thick with the scent of ginger and garlic. I'd already showered, scrubbed my skin until it was pink and raw, trying to wash away the anxiety that clung to me. Changed into leggings and an oversized black sweater that swallowed my frame. Pulled my damp hair into a messy bun that was already falling apart.None of it helped. My hands moved on autopilot. Dice the peppers, slice the chicken, prep the vegetables. But my mind was elsewhere, playing out every horrific scenario it could conjure. Silas bleeding out in some alley. Silas with a gun to his head. Silas's body dumped somewhere we'd never find it.The knife slipped, nearly catching my finger, and I cursed under my breath. Get it together, Ellie. Now isn't the time to overthink or have a fuck
