He frowned. “What do you mean?”I got up from my desk and walked over to my window. “She's late,” I said at last, before I turned to look at him. “Didn't you know about that? If memory serves me right, you mentioned during your interview that you had always wanted to work for me. Didn't you at least know about your role model?” It wasn't even a secret that I grew up in the orphanage.“I…” He rubbed his hand on the back of his neck. “I knew you grew up in an orphanage before getting adopted.”“You didn't know my foster mum died a few years after I was adopted, and they thrust me back into the system before I ran away at 17 after high school, and worked to put myself through college?”He blinked. “I didn't know about that.” He frowned. “You hardly mentioned your past during interviews. I only knew about your rocky childhood and you growing up in an orphanage. That's all I know about you.”“I see.” I returned to my desk and took the ice cream cup. “Well, now you know. So...” I looked at

I was going to come. I could feel it building, a wave about to break, and I wanted to beg him to let me, but I couldn't speak. The pressure in my throat was too much, the black creeping in at the edges of my vision. Then he released me.Air rushed into my lungs, and I gasped, and he kept thrusting, his hand on my hip, his breath ragged and uneven. “Come for me,” he said. “Come on my cock.”I did. I came hard, my body shaking, my fingers gripping the sheets. He followed a second later, his hips stuttering, and I felt him spill inside me, hot and wet.We collapsed onto the bed, tangled together, breathless and slick with sweat. His fingers pressed into the bruise on my neck, and I winced, not from pain. From the way it made my cock twitch, half-hard again, wanting more.“Are you ready to go again?”I nodded, and his grin widened. “Is there anything you need from me again?”“I need you to fuck me until I can't walk,” I said. “I need you to choke me until I see stars. I need you to use my

GUEL“Mum, can we meet for lunch?” I asked the moment she took my call. She really took her time before she did so. I had to call three times before she deemed me fit to hear her wonderful voice. “I doubt that would be necessary,” she said, dismissing me. My brows almost shot past my hairline. “You don't want to meet me for lunch?” I frowned. This was the woman who almost blew up my phone with texts yesterday, asking me to come home. But now she didn't want to meet me?“Why? Are you pissed because I didn't return home last night? I had something important at….” I rubbed the back of my neck. “At the office. I stayed with Maxwell throughout the night, working on a late contract draft. You can call him if you like,” I said with a smile. Before this call, I had already sent a message to Maxwell, letting him know what he would say if my mum called him. I had this foolproof plan, which she wouldn't be able to see through. “Oh, Maxwell? I see.” My frown deepened at her tone. Why do I fe

I gulped. “So, there was no need for him to seek employment under me?” My voice broke. I blinked so fast to prevent the tears brimming in my eyes from sliding down. The last thing I wanted was to cry in her presence. I was fucking too old for that.I pulled my hand back when the barista returned with our orders. I didn't touch my cappuccino. I just stared at it, as if I could somehow channel my heartbreak into it. Every kind gesture I'd made since I met Guel played in my mind. I'd fallen for a man who never existed. The Guel in my mind and heart had never been real. He had only been fiction. “He let me believe it,” I mumbled. “He looked me in the eye and told me he was shit poor.” And that fucking hurts more than I thought it would.Chrys was quiet for a moment. Then she said, “My son is many things, Asher. He's smart, and kind, and when he loves someone, he loves them with his whole heart. But he's also his father's son.” She looked down at her coffee. “That bastard could make you

I dragged my hands down my face as I slid down to the floor. “So, you planned all this…” I gestured between us. “Before meeting me? From the onset, you played me into thinking you had a crush on someone else while I was the one you actually liked?”So, I had all along been fucking jealous of myself like a damned fool?Guel went still before he nodded. “I'm sorry. I really couldn't think of the right way to approach you. I was afraid you would turn me down if you knew who I was. I had to pretend to be dirt poor to catch your —” He stopped and his face crumpled. “I'm not proud of it. But I'd spent eight years waiting for a perfect moment that never came. So I made one.”His words didn't make it better. “Oh my God,” I breathed. “Oh, my God. Guel, I don't—I can't—”I couldn't finish the sentence. There were too many endings and all of them were terrifying. His love wasn't sweet, and it fucking as hell wasn't romantic. At least not in the way the movies and books made it seem. It was terr
