"I didn't know I needed your approval."He mused, looking down at her out of the corner of his eye.She captured the errant chunk and pointed it at him. "Learn something new every day.""You're awfully cheeky today aren't you?" He smirked. She'd been awfully cheeky most days lately, having discovered he was generally more entertained than annoyed by it. Which was a relief for her since her natural sense of humor had always tended towards the sardonic. It was a relief to not have to suppress it as she did with all but her closest siblings."My deepest apologies, I'd hate to make you angry my lord" she leered.Demitri made a disgusted sound. "Do you mind, I'm trying to eat here."Thelios chuckled, though not before returning her look. She grinned back and returned to her food, and turned her thoughts back to where exactly he was off to. She decided it must be related to the messenger who had come two days ago, who true to Demitri's predictions was someone new, and did his best to keep hi

Her mother, who had survived four daughters and three sons and lived to see all but three of her children married, was a serious and quite women. Caliope often wondered at how little she knew about her mother, who had always kept her own council and who had been too busy tending her family and being the proper wife of a respected council member to devote much time to idle conversation. Caliope had always held the hope that perhaps when she was older and married her mother might open a little to her, as she had seemed to do with her elder sisters. It made her a little melancholy to think that this was no longer possible. Her elder sisters were both married, and the eldest with two young sons of her own. Demetra, the eldest, had always been like a second mother to her and Helena, keeping them out of her mothers hair and teaching them the skills that their mother had taught her: how to keep a house, how to sew and weave, how to cook, clean, and the most difficult lesson, how to sit quiet

Before she could leave another merchant called to her and held up a beautiful necklace made with what looked like coral and aquamarine. She went over and politely admired it."It's lovely sir, but I'm afraid it wouldn't be appropriate for a servant." He eyed her."Though I don't recognize you miss, you don't carry yourself like a servant.""If I wasn't it would be highly irregular for me to be in a market unescorted."He gave her a look that told her he didn't believe her for a second. Perhaps he thought her a lady who was playing at being a servant to be in the market place. It wouldn't be unheard of."I assure you sir, I am what I say I am.""Whose your master then?" he grinned at her challengingly. She cast her eyes down at his wares, hiding her expression under the guise of examining them a little more carefully."The giant, sir." There was a long moment of silence before she looked up. He looked agape and she fought the blush that crept up her throat. His look turned from surprise

Eminently suitable. But, she frowned, would he be content with it? Wasn't there something women take to prevent pregnancy? She'd heard of such things...had he been expecting her to be using something like that? Some kind of poultice or concoction? She hoped not, otherwise they'd both be in for a nasty shock if it turned out she could become pregnant and he wasn't expecting or wanting it.She grunted with disgust and pushed the troubling thoughts out of her mind. This was just the sort of thing she had been avoiding thinking about. There was no use getting all worked up over nothing or over that which was too late to change. It was illogical. She dunked herself again and shook the suds out of her hair with her fingers, hoping her thoughts would join them. She popped out again and stood up slowly pushing the damp, lanky strands behind her ears. She rubbed the water from her face with her palms, blinked opened her eyes, and gasped."Hello little girl. Miss me?"She usually gave him an ar

He held himself over her with his elbows to keep from crushing her and she could hear him panting harshly in the wake of his release. She glanced up at his face to find his eyes still closed. She breathed a sigh a relief and turned her face away to wipe at an errant tear before he saw it. But it wasn't her hand that wiped it away. She looked up at him to find him frowning back."What's wrong? Why are you crying?" His voice was rough, still horse with passion and exertion.Calliope turned away and expelled a harsh breath, running the back of her hand against her eyes before swallowing hard and turning back to face him. He was still frowning...and for some reason, the combination of that frown, the tightness in her chest, the throbbing of her sex, and the feel of their slick bodies still pressed together even as his even slicker cock slowly softened and slid wetly from her as he pulled away...well it all seemed so strange and overwhelming to her just then that ...she laughed. Not hard o
