"Speaking of crazy people," Erika went on, looking at me with yet another wicked grin. "Next time we get together without the kids, have you decided whether George is going to have pretty new tatas to play with?"There was another silence. Again, it was not as long a period of speechlessness and I felt Erika was going for. "You. Are. Bad," declared Sara. "And if you must pry, I made a consultation appointment already this morning before I called you. Peter is much more excited about it than is probably good for him," she added with dark humor."Good," laughed Erika. She looked at me with a gleam that told me she was about to scandalize me this time. "Because next time we all horse around, I plan on fucking your husband so hard his toes curl. Last night he blasted on my chest, but next time he doesn't get off so easy. He's going to cum inside me as hard as I can make him." Erika sat back and stared at me, half in competitive triumph, half pleading that we really were good with all this

The campers arrived for the first session of the summer in due course and things slid smoothly into the routine I loved so much. I know we call them worms, but we pretty much like most of them. It is surprising how much, actually, given that virtually all of their families run the gamut from pretty damned rich to stonkingly loaded. It is hard not to be a spoiled brat when you are born that wealthy. But get these teenagers off into a primitive environment, away from phones, symbols of status, expensive clothes (mostly), and especially their doting parents and loyal retainers, and they learn to be human beings pretty quickly. Each session was four weeks long, which was plenty of time to deprogram most of them. The rhythm of life at Dickinger was timeless. Every week, starting with the night of arrival, the whole camp gathered around a huge, low bonfire far off in the woods. Kids sat by cabin with their counselors on huge benches, each made from half a tree trunk, worn smooth by careful

"Yeah," I added. "You two are lucky it was us who found you, and not some hard asses. Or worse... senior staff."Both of them just glared at us, embarrassed, angry, and scared. Scared enough?"Look, Chip," I grated out between clenched teeth, "where are your parents right now? Paris, right? How do you think they'd feel if they got a call from Carol telling them that you were being sent home two weeks early... oh yeah, and with no refund?" The douche finally grasped how big a disaster that would indeed be for him. Adele looked equally nonplussed. I exchanged a look with Lisa. "Look, the thing is, it was us who found you... without anyone else being involved in our search. We can hopefully keep this quiet. Now, the two of you head back to your bunks, stay away from each other the rest of the whole damned session, and do not tell a single soul about any part of this.""Why?" asked Adele.Lisa replied, "Because if you tell even one person, it will get out. We've both seen it back when we

"Yeah, about that," she said, her eyes looking at mine with a mixture of sheepishness and regret. "There can't be a next time."I narrowed my eyes at her said eloquently, "Huh?" I shook my head as if to clear it. "I thought that was just as mind-bendingly awesome for you as it was for me."Lisa just kissed me again, a little harder this time. Then she kind of sucked on her teeth before explaining, "The thing is, Caspar, I have a boyfriend.""What?" I exclaimed, barely containing a shout. "You gotta tell a guy something like that! That's... That's not... That's not cool, Lisa! You mean I just...""Easy, Tiger," she interrupted me. "We have a very specific agreement, he and I." I just looked at her skeptically. "The thing is, I'm here all summer, and he is, more to the point, doing an internship at a movie studio out in LA... out there with all those tanned, toned, wannabe starlets who are all going to end up in porn instead. Better to give each other a hall pass for the summer, but wit

But she was thoroughly not attracted to me. She never laughed at my jokes, even the good ones that everyone else thought were funny. She hardly ever even looked at me. It was excruciating. And of course, as arrogant dudes do when they get that completely stonewalled, I decided that she had to be a lesbian. I can be a jerk sometimes. Sue me.Needless to say, I was in agony the following year when another counselor named Duane, who had ended up attending the same university as she did that fall, came back the next year and described to me in horrifying detail just exactly how not lesbian Yvette was... I may have cried when I heard what she had done to Duane with those lips. All three sessions my second year as counselor, my female partners were all not only not Oh Please Yeses, they were each an outright No. That is actually rare at Camp Dickinger. As I said before, Carol seems to make a direct effort to ensure her staff are all pretty attractive. It looks good in the brochures, I guess
