Lahat ng Kabanata ng That Was No Prince: She fooled the Lycanis: Kabanata 11 - Kabanata 20

Lucan shifted a bit forward, adjusting his arms forward that were placed next to each other on the table so he could whisper while Valen brought his ear closer. "A few people get chosen to do something. A guy who survived it recently dared to open up about his experience and he said that what they faced in combat weren't werewolves or even the Lycanis, but Vampires instead." Valen's eyes widened, "Vampires?" "Hm. He said that the vampires were the demonic ones and that even after they had managed to get what they needed, they were chased fiercely by some werewolves who ended up getting killed by them. He said what they had gone for got lost amidst the race for survival and he didn't even know what it was." Valen became more intrigued despite the complexity and confusion in the story. Lucan sighed, "Since then, nothing much has happened. When we heard the news that they had gone round again to hunt for young men, we kind of figured out that it was likely going to happen again."

No one could have easily guessed what the King was thinking. Then his hands moved slowly and deliberately. He reached for the small leather pouch Iza had placed beside him and loosened the tie with calmness. The earthy and bitter scent from the pouch immediately filled the room. “Noctra root,” he murmured. His voice was hoarse, but it wasn't really from his weakness. He closed his eyes, exhaled, and reopened them, trying to keep his animal caged. His eyes flickered once, briefly, as if something had stirred beneath them. "Iza, you risked your life to get this." “I did, my Lord.” “And yet... You speak of war.” Iza hesitated, confused by the calm in Rhydian’s tone. He was supposed to be in support of the idea, not otherwise. “Yes. Because they will never give us what we need. Not willingly. They hate us, my lord. They mock us. They mock you. Every single time, my Lord. We shouldn't waste any precious moment. You—” his voice faltered as Rhydian’s eyes settled fully on him—“yo

Valen had always thought Aldridge was this kind of hot-headed person. It was his first time seeing him this calm and not replying to him as if he had stepped on Aldridge's toes. Also, he could see the contrast between Iza and Aldridge, but at the same time, Valen was trying to understand the relationship between the three of them."Alright then. I will take your silence as an understanding of the instructions..." Aldridge spoke up with a shrug after he had been staring at Valen for almost a minute, but the latter was mute and lost in his thoughts.Valen snapped back and looked anywhere else other than Aldridge as he was embarrassed"Uhm...I apologize, I was just..." "It's fine." Aldridge set to leave. "But may I at least know what's wrong with him? Does he..." He paused, his eyes landing on the King for a few seconds before moving back to Aldridge, who was already close to the door, "...have this display often?" Valen questioned curiously."Yes, as his right-hand man, you should pre

Rhydian opened his eyes after a few hours of sleeping. Unlike some time ago when he felt so stripped of his power, this time around, he felt his energy coming back and he was slowly getting back to himself. He looked around his room when the corner of his eyes caught sight of something... or rather someone, and he frowned.Someone's head was next to his arm on his bed. He lifted his left hand and tried to remove a few strands of the hair covering the person's face to see who it was clearly. "Valen," the name dropped from his lips before he could even stop it, and Valen instantly was awakened. His head flung up with his squinted eyes only to see Rhydian staring back at him.Quickly, he rubbed his eyes and stood on his feet to attend to the king. "My Lord, you're awake. Is there anything you need? Are you feeling alright? Do you need to go to the bathroom?" Rhydian slowly tried to sit up and Valen assisted him to do so. Rhydian shook his head. "I'm fine now. Don't treat me like I'm a

"I told you that it was going to work," Lucan chuckled after Valen had happily told him the effect of his advice yesterday."I was surprised,""Dealing with the Lycanis when they are not in the bloody form is as easy as dealing with a baby. Not many people realized that, but then it depends on which Lycanis it is. Whatever trick that you can pull off on Aldridge can never work Iza and vice versa." Lucan educated him and the two of them started walking away from the dinner hall where they had both agreed to meet, taking the gates after giving their boarding pass each before they were allowed to step out."Now that we are talking about the two of them, I am quite interested in knowing more. Iza is scary, and just during our first meeting, I knew that we wouldn't get along with each other.""No one has ever gotten along with Iza except the King. He gets along with the King, not the other way round, though. Not even Aldridge has been able to pull a best friend card on him. They are like c
