Back in our shabby den, Finn woke up when I came in. He rubbed his sleepy eyes and sniffed the air around me.My heart shattered looking at his golden wolf eyes and strong jaw, so much like Kael's.How could Kael, his Alpha father, bear to let his own cub grow up fatherless, to be teased by other pups?Sensing my overwhelming grief, Finn nuzzled my neck with his furry little head.“Momma, did you find out about Alpha Kael?”It hit me. After Kael showed up as “Ronan,” Finn would always slip up and call him “Daddy.”I'd always scold him, tell him that was Uncle Ronan, not his father Kael.I just thought my little cub missed his dead father terribly. I never realized a child's eyes see the clearest! He'd always known his real father, drawn by their blood connection. He just didn't understand why, overnight, the Alpha father who used to toss him in the air and rub his stubbly chin against his cheek had become so cold, even pushing him away.No wonder “Ronan's” care for us always felt… meas

After sending word to the Silver-Moon Pack, I knew there was one crucial, incredibly painful ritual I had to perform before I could officially accept Alpha Lucian's courtship gift and start a new life with them.I had to completely break the Mate Bond with Kael – the bond he'd betrayed and stained. In ancient wolf lore, once a Mate Bond was forged, it was like a brand on your soul.It was almost impossible to break unless one mate died, or there was an ultimate betrayal. And breaking it meant going to Moon-shadow Falls, a sacred place passed down through generations, at the peak of the Blood Moon. You had to offer your own blood and your absolute will to the Moon Goddess, sacrificing the dead love and taking back the part of your soul the other mate held. The ritual was dangerous. One wrong move, and your soul could tear, leaving you seriously weakened, maybe even unable to ever bond again.I used to think our bond stayed strong because I loved Kael so much.I never imagined it was bec

Pretty soon, Finn and I were on our way to the Silver Moon Pack's territory, a place called Moon-crest Peak.I was brought to Alpha Lucian's den.Lucian's tall frame appeared at the cave entrance. The second his golden eyes landed on my pale face and how weak I looked, they softened. He rushed over, all worried."Elara!" he said, striding forward and carefully taking Finn from my arms. His warm, dry hand gently brushed my forehead. A strong wave of Alpha energy flowed into me, soothing the wounds in my soul."You're hurt," he said, his voice low, like he was trying to keep his anger bottled up.Leon quickly told him everything that happened at Moon-shadow Falls.Lucian listened, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes."Ronan..." He said the name, his voice like ice.Over the next few days, Lucian took amazing care of me, and slowly, my body and spirit started to heal.Finn settled into life with the Silver Moon Pack quickly too. The light was back in his eyes. The night the blood moon wa

After the mating ceremony, Kael was like a zombie, totally on the verge of a breakdown. He went back to the Stone Creek Pack and locked himself in Ronan's den.The image of Elara and Lucian together, and Finn – who used to be so sweet to him – looking at him with such hate, played over and over in his head like a nightmare. He finally got it. He hadn't just lost a mate and a son. He'd lost the most important part of his soul. Regret gnawed at him day and night, like a viper. He started obsessively replaying the past.Elara's smile, her gentleness, how she trusted him completely.Finn's baby babble, his tiny paws clutching his fur. When he decided to live as Ronan, all he could think about was Alina. But why, now, did thinking about how happy he used to be make him regret everything so much?"Why… why did I do that back then…?" he muttered to the cold stone walls.Alina realized the man had gone mad.She looked at Kael, who was a gaunt wreck, and felt no pity, only cold calculation."Ka

Kael kept trying to make it up to Finn, even though Finn wanted nothing to do with him. It was pointless. In fact, the pain of being rejected just made him more obsessed.Lucian beefed up security, but he couldn't keep Finn locked away in a safe bubble forever.Wolf pups need to experience things to grow. That day, I was out with a few she-wolves near the border, gathering some rare moon petal flowers in the herb garden.Finn and some other Silver Moon pups his age were playing nearby, with two wolf guards watching over them.Suddenly, a thick black fog, reeking of dark magic, rolled out from the dense woods."Ambush!" I yelled. The guards quickly surrounded us, but the fog spread too fast. We could barely see a thing. In the chaos, I heard Finn cry out."Mom!" My heart jumped. I didn't think, I just ran towards his voice.Several dark figures flashed through the fog – and they were coming for me!Their attacks were fast and strange. They were clearly Kael's outlaws, the ones who'd mes
