Helena’s voice came across the line, brisk and a little tight, as if she had rehearsed what to say.“Scarlett,” she pressed on, “Hey, it’s me, Helena? Do you remember me? We had dinner a few months ago, after you… You know, handled Caden at the office.”I remembered her well. Calm, efficient, polite. A woman who had spent years watching Caden from close proximity, who likely knew exactly what kind of man he was. She never said much about him though, always keeping things professional.
