Leon was still in the pack interrogation room and wasn’t moved by the cop warriors. After Steven left, Karl pulled out his phone and dialed. I watched him nervously because except for moonlight, the place was pitch-black and reeked of blood. Good thing I was only my wolf spirit.Finally, someone picked up, "Karl! What the hell? You didn't tell me Julie died?" It was his older brother, Carlos. Six years ago, he'd be the alpha of our pack. Back then, infighting inside the pack was brutal and lots of upper class had been bought off by the Bloodmoon Pack. When Carlos went out of the pack to supervise a hunting project, he got ambushed in a parking garage by a fierce rogue wolf paid by Bloodmoon to take him out. The next morning when he woke, I saw he'd been clutching a tiny bone whistle all night. I froze cause this was the one I'd bought for our pup, and it was put in the nursery. After the pack hospital confirmed the pregnancy, I passed a pack toy shop and grabbed this bone whistle that made bird sounds. I wanted to buy more, but Karl stopped me and said it was too early, so I only bought this one then. We lost our pup soon and it was too fast to decorate the pup room and too fast to buy him toys.
