ALINAI woke to the unfamiliar room. I sat up slowly, eyes darting around the room. It was beautiful, but foreign. Cream colored walls framed by towering windows that stretched from the floor to the ceiling revealed a city skyline so distant below, it made my stomach twist. Cars and people moved like ants, tiny and almost like dots from this height. One wrong step out of that window, and I would be nothing more than a splatter on the concrete.My pulse spiked. Panic rushed through me in waves, drumming in my ears. I stumbled off the bed, pushing the silk sheets off me. I moved quickly toward the door, not sure what I was looking for. My hand gripped the knob, and I breathed a shaky sigh when it turned easily. Although my relief was short lived.Two massive men stood outside, their shoulders squared and eyes locked on me with cold, warning stares.
