I think I feel the blood drain from my face. What is Christian doing?Levi and Cassie’s new friends look at each other, their eyes moving from me and then darting sharply away when directed at Christian as they try to figure out what’s happening.Cassie and Levi both look as confused as their friends, but they don’t just look confused, no, they look confused and scared.I can see actual fear glinting in their eyes in the silence that follows Christian’s words. He’s not going to threaten them because of me is he? They look like he’s going to.I try softly pulling my hand away from Christian’s grasp. As much as I like the scared look on both their faces, I’m sure about one thingThis isn’t how I want to expose them.Cassie and Levi are currently surrounded by people that already admire them, who think they’re a couple and will take their side.Christian saying I’m his date has jeopardized any chances of me acting the part of a distraught girlfriend, so I need to do some damage control

The look of annoyance in Levi’s eyes only seems to grow as he hears my apology, and the same way I’ve always done when he’s angry at me, I let myself look a little sad, like a little child who has just been scolded as I add meekly, “I wasn’t happy seeing you with another woman, and the fact that the woman you were with was Cassie, it… it made me feel,”“Like I would cheat on you with your best friend?” Levi’s tone drops a decibel lower, his anger subsiding a bit, but he still puts on the airs of an educator, lecturing, as he looks at me intently and chuckles, “You’re just being unreasonably jealous babe, but you should trust me. You should know I would never cheat on you. I only love you.”The way he says it, like he himself believes it, that alone would have made me believe him, but the moment he speaks all I can see is images of him in between Cassie’s legs, him kissing her as they sit lap to lap in the seat of that bar.I would believe him, but I’ve seen too much to trust a single

My mind scrambles for an answer to the questions running around in it. Why is he here, in the room next to Levi’s, and now standing in front of me with that look on his face?I should ask, but my attention is on something more important right now. My attention is on him, and the state of his shirt.Christian’s smooth white shirt has a single extra button undone, yet his broad shoulders still manage to make the white fabric stretch taut across his chest. The sleeves are rolled up showing off strong arms, stark with veins with a smattering of hair over them. It makes my throat feel dry as my mind brings a vivid mental image of Christian naked and I look away for a second to hide the blush that creeps up my face. When I look back, it’s even more damning because the effort to hide my blush was a total waste.Christian’s face stares back at me. A face I thought I was slowly getting used to, but I definitely am not. Christian looks as handsome as he always has. His blue eyes are captivating

Christian crouches on the haunches of his feet and seeing him like that, like he’s about to begin an inspection, makes me lose all willingness to resist.Christian pulls off his shirt and joins me on the bed, his lips fiercely caressing mine as he seals us in a kiss.I have a thousand and one questions to ask, but something about the way he kisses me tells me I won’t be getting answers to any of them. He’s the man who took my virginity from me and who helped me see what was going on in front of me all along. If I wanted to have sex with a man in a hotel room, it would be with him.Christian’s body looms over mine, solid and sure as he slows down the pace of our kisses into slow, soft, flicks of his tongue against mine. His hand repeatedly caresses my thigh, pressing against them firmly as my body heats up and I let myself get consumed by this feeling of desire and want.My body pulses with the need for his skin to be on mine. The same way it was that night.A soft but audible moan sli

My smile freezes on my face and I don’t know if I should wipe it off totally or not.We can only be sex partners.Did he change his mind after having sex with me because he realized he wants more of the sex? Is sex the only thing I’m good for?Christian is still looking at me in that inspecting way as he adds, “I can help you get back at Levi, but you can’t be my girlfriend. Do you agree to this, Lyra?”I should tell him to go fuck himself.I really should, but whatever this is we have between us, it’s intriguing and addictive, and though a feeling of bitterness wells up inside me at his offer, I nod all the same, “That’s fine by me.”If he says I can’t be his girlfriend, then that’s fine. Since he says he’ll help me get back at Levi, sure, I might be selling myself short at the moment.Anyone with a bit more dignity and less desperation would probably throw Christian’s offer back in his face and leave this room, but I want too much to leave it all on the table because of the terms he
