Violet’s POV I had never felt fear like this. Every arrow that flew past us was a scream in the chest. The a storm of enemies raining death from all directions, and somehow, I had to keep Xavier alive through it all. At first, I hadn’t noticed the subtle limp in his stride. He moved as though nothing was wrong, darting, shielding me, keeping us low to the ground. But then, the smell of iron hit my nose, sharp and metallic, and my heart nearly stopped.
