Lucy’s POV I could barely sleep a wink, my head reeling with the text, and once the sun came up, I rolled out of bed, heading straight for the shower. It took me two hours to get ready, but my excitement didn’t shake for a second. By the time I had stepped out, Shane sat at the dining table, taking a spoonful of egg. I lightened my step, trying to sneak past him, my heart racing. “Where are you going?” He asked with a straight voice, and I froze, turning as slowly as possible. “Hey, I didn’t see you there,” I lied, giving him a wide grin, but he only stared back. “Yes. I’m positive you didn’t. Take a seat.” My heart raced, and I glanced at the door. This psycho was going to make me late. “Well, you see, I have somewhere to—” I tried to explain, but I only needed another glare from him to shut up. I trudged to my seat, my movements robotic. Jasmine, the housekeeper, brought an extra plate, and if I didn’t know any better, I would say she was trying to keep in a laugh.
