Chapter 31“Thank you,” Hilda said softly, a smile on her lips as Aron gently pinned her hair back. They were outside the house, and Aron had noticed her constantly brushing her hair away from her face. Since she’d lost her hairclip, he removed the tie from the sleeve of his own shirt and used it to hold her hair in place.“No problem,” Aron replied with a grin. They were standing face-to-face, and Hilda took a moment to thank him for spending time with her.“Can I touch you?” Aron asked out of nowhere.Hilda blinked, her brows furrowing in surprise at the question. “Hmm, go on,” she replied, a bit confused but trusting.Aron’s expression softened as he leaned closer. A leaf had fallen on her shoulder, and since she was wearing a dress, he was careful not to brush too much skin as he reached for it.But before he could touch her, someone suddenly pulled Hilda back and wrapped a possessive arm around her waist. Her eyes widened as she looked up—and immediately blushed upon seeing Art g

Chapter 32Hilda didn’t know where she gathered the courage—but she still went to the shop. The place was empty, no staff in sight, which startled her. She walked straight to the stockroom, eyes sweeping across the dim space.Behind her, Aron stood silently, his expression dark.He slowly raised his hand, envisioning himself strangling Hilda. In his mind, if he killed her now, he could finally keep her. He would bring her to a faraway place where it would be just the two of them—where she could never leave.“Whatever it is you’re planning… I know you can easily do it,” Hilda said suddenly, breaking the silence. “We’re the only ones here.”Aron froze. He looked at the steel shelf and saw his own reflection behind Hilda’s—her eyes watching him.“But I trust you,” Hilda continued. “Because we’re friends. And I know you wouldn’t do anything that would hurt me.”Aron’s expression darkened further. Without warning, he grabbed Hilda and spun her to face him.“Don’t act like you know me!” he

Chapter 33I woke up in an unfamiliar room. The first thing that came to my mind was Art—and the accident. I shot up, hands flying to my stomach. My baby. Art. The sobs tore from my chest before I could stop them. This was all my fault. The door opened, and I instinctively turned toward it. Mr. Alegre entered, and before I could say anything, his hand landed on my cheek.“Who is the father of that child?!” he roared.I froze, clutching his arm. “My baby! Is my baby alive? Is my child still alive?!” I screamed. But Mr. Alegre shoved me away with disgust.“You’re going to abort that child. And Mr. Truson must never find out,” he said coldly. My heart stopped.“No! No! I won’t allow that! This is my baby!” I shouted, my voice cracking. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. That child was his grandchild.I clutched the bedsheet tightly. What else could I expect from a father who never cared about me? Of course, he wouldn’t care about a child who hadn’t even been born.He grabbed my jaw h

Chapter 34Days turned into weeks. Weeks into months. Yet nothing changed with Hilda’s condition. No one could stop their leader from killing every doctor who stepped into her room—especially when all of them said the same thing.Gabriel watched silently, troubled, as another group of doctors was carried out—lifeless. He entered the room and saw their leader standing at the center, blood-stained katana in hand, his clothes soaked in blood.Hilda remained unconscious in bed. Beside her, Khan gently wiped her hands with a damp towel as if everything were normal.Since the failed mission, the four had refused to accept new assignments. They stayed by Hilda’s side, silently guarding her.“Padrino,” Gabriel called.Arthur stood motionless, his face dark, gaze fixed on the sword he was gripping tightly.“You can’t keep killing every doctor that enters this room,” Gabriel said firmly. “Miss Hilda’s life—and her baby’s—depend on them.”Arthur stilled at those words and glanced at the woman ly

Chapter 35“Young lady! Don’t run!”Khan chased after the little girl giggling as she hugged her favorite teddy bear. Not far behind, a little boy stood still, clutching his favorite rattle while watching them with wide eyes.Because of the girl’s boundless energy and mischievous nature, Aoi, Khan, and Nari constantly found themselves struggling to keep up. Every time she ran off or hid somewhere, they were thrown into a panic.“Ivoly, I want to walk,” the little boy requested gently.Ivory let him down but kept a firm grip on his hand. He could see the boy's longing as he watched his sister running freely and playing tag with Aoi. But the boy had a weak constitution and a congenital heart condition—he wasn’t allowed to exert himself.“Peri, look! I found a grasshopper!”Because of his peridot-green eyes, Arthur had nicknamed the boy Peridot, while the girl was dubbed Beryl. They couldn’t keep calling them “young master” and “young lady” forever.Peridot clung to Ivory’s leg, startled

Chapter 36Arthur asked Hilda if she had anything she wanted to ask him. After finishing the soup Arthur had prepared, Hilda placed the bowl back on the tray and took the glass of milk he handed her.“Like what?” Hilda asked, cradling the warm glass between her palms as she gently blew on it.She was still weak, but it was nothing compared to earlier.“I think I’ve learned enough... heard enough... while I was asleep,” she whispered. “I don’t want to complicate things anymore. Because honestly, nothing’s going to change, anyway.”Arthur pressed his lips into a tight line. He had kept everything from Hilda—especially the truth about the children.Hilda couldn’t bring herself to be angry or question him, not after everything he’d done for her.Now that she was awake and saw Arthur right in front of her, she couldn’t help but wonder—was this really the same man who once brought her to that place and introduced her to Aron just to die? Was he the same Art who was once her mission partner,

Chapter 37Hilda immediately approached and suddenly hugged the twins. Startled, the two instinctively pushed her away—thankfully, Arthur was quick enough to catch her.“Beryl! Peri!” Arthur called out in alarm, prompting the children to jump in surprise. Hilda clutched Arthur's arm and gave a faint smile.“I think I startled them… It’s okay,” Hilda said from where she sat on the floor. She had been easily knocked down—the twins were still small, but her body remained weak from recovery.“Sorry,” the little boy mumbled. Hilda looked at him, her eyes softening at the sight of his tear-filled gaze.“Don’t cry. I’m okay. My heart breaks whenever I see a cute little boy like you crying—especially when you look just like Art,” Hilda said gently. The boy pressed his lips together, struggling not to cry. Hilda chuckled, causing Beryl’s expression to soften slightly. She had such a lovely smile and laugh, just as Arthur had once told them.“Can you stand up?” Arthur asked.Hilda shook her hea

Chapter 38“What are you planning to do after transferring your position to Aron?” Hilda asked as she scratched the back of her head, walking while holding Peri’s hand.Arthur admitted that he hadn’t really thought that far ahead. It wasn’t like money was a problem—he had several businesses locally and abroad that earned billions monthly. He looked at Hilda and the two children walking beside them.“Maybe we should just buy a house in the Philippines and stay there for good,” he said casually.Hilda stopped in her tracks and turned to him, eyes wide in disbelief. “Are you serious?” she asked.Arthur nodded. He said it would be good for him to finally step away from the organization. It was time to settle down, especially now that he had children. He gestured toward the twins. Hilda didn’t know what to feel in that moment. Was it okay to expect more? Was it okay to be greedy? She could only stare at Arthur, who was now watching the twins sit on the ground, looking curiously at somethin

Chapter 39 "Fairies!" Peri exclaimed with delight as Hilda and Beryl stepped out of the dressing room, both wearing vibrant red dresses. Arthur froze in place, his gaze fixed on the two girls who now stood before him—two of the most important people in his life."Mama! You look like the fairies from the books!" Peri clapped gleefully as he looked up at the pair, laughter bubbling in his voice."What do you think, Art?" Hilda twirled in front of Arthur, the hem of her dress flaring gracefully. She asked him with a shy smile if the red dress suited her.Arthur's expression softened. "You look stunning but i like the best if you dont wear anything—"Hilda immediately slapped a hand over his mouth, her face turning crimson. "What were you about to say?""I'm just joking," Arthur chuckled, holding her wrist lightly. After shopping for dresses, they headed straight to the playground. Beryl immediately ran off to the slide, with Peri right behind her. Around them, other families were enjoyi

Chapter 40"I want to marry her instead," Arthur declared, the memory of that night at the venue flashing vividly in his mind. From the moment Hilda arrived, Arthur had his eyes locked on her. He didn’t even glance away once. He noticed Aron from a distance, also watching Hilda while silently downing glass after glass of alcohol—his composure eerily steady. That was when Arthur discreetly called one of the waiters and gave a chilling command: to drug Hilda’s drink. Then Aron approached her. Arthur hadn’t originally planned to intervene, but when he saw Hilda starting to lose consciousness, he found himself gripping her arm tightly, reacting before he could even think. Now here he was again, acting on instinct, with no real plan. His gaze dropped to Hilda’s flushed cheeks, and all of a sudden, clarity hit him. He had meant to ask Aron which room Hilda would be taken to, but when she uttered his name and clung to him, his heart pounded wildly. He began to question everything.Could he r
