Sienna's POV Maybe Liliana was right. But the worry inside me still wouldn’t disappear.Because Noah was no longer a small child I could simply hug whenever I wanted. Now he was a young man with his own world and emotions. I didn’t always know how to reach that world.Around us, the café was getting a little busier. A few other mothers walked in pushing strollers, while a barista ground coffee beans behind the counter. The sounds created a warm background. But my thoughts kept returning to one thing.“Do you think I should talk to him about it again?” I asked softly.Liliana didn’t answer immediately. She watched her children for a few seconds, as if carefully thinking about something.“Not forcing him to talk,” she finally said. “But giving him space to talk.”I frowned slightly.“What’s the difference?”“If you force him, he’ll shut himself off. But if he knows the door is always open, one day he’ll walk through it hi

Noah’s POVMy class is moving slowly today. It feels like it is taking forever to end.I am not listening to the professor all. His voice is a dull sound in the background. My mind keeps going to the conversation I had with my dad this morning.. One name keeps popping up in my head.Rachel.I lean back in my chair. Look at my notebook. The page is filled with sentences that do not make any sense. I must have tried to take notes at some point. I lost focus halfway through. My pen is tapping lightly against the paper.Rachel.I keep thinking about what happened night. The way Steven was talking to her. His careless tone. That stupid smirk on his face.My jaw is getting tight.I should not have lost my temper like that. My dad was right.. Thinking about it still makes me really angry.I run my hand through my hair. Look out the window. The campus lawn is bri

Noah's POVI stayed quiet for a second.Rachel noticed. "Oh." I little smile started to form on her face but it was not a nice smile. It was like she was making fun of me."So you go to clubs too?" she asked.I started to say something. She did not let me finish."So you were there," she said, "at the place."I tried to explain. She kept talking. "Don't tell me you were just walking by." Her voice started to sound really cold. She told me she thought I was different. Now she is not so sure.Something inside my chest felt weird like someone had hit me.I told her the truth. "I did go there. I just wanted to make sure." I was lying to her.Rachel asked me what I meant by, "make sure. I did not know what to say.”She thought I was trying to say that Steven is a person but that wa

Noah's POVI stared at Rachel without blinking.I did not understand what was going on. I admitted it to her."I do not fully understand either," I said to her honestly.Rachel let out a sigh."Then maybe you should start thinking about it.”I almost said something. I did not know what to say. Before I could say anything I heard a car engine stopping in front of us.I turned my head. Saw the black car that usually picked Rachel up had arrived.Rachel picked up her bag. Got ready to leave."Rachel, wait!" I said to her quickly. "Just listen to what I have to say."She shook her head. "I have heard enough."The car door. She got in."I do not need someone who thinks he is always right in my life," she said quietly before closing the door. "You should stop coming near me."Her words hurt me a lot.

Noah’s POVGabriel's words have been stuck in my head since this morning.Jealousy.I do not like saying it out loud but that word is like a splinter that I just cannot get rid of. It is really irritating and annoying. The more I try to ignore it the more it bothers me.I lean back in my chair at the campus café. Stare at my half-empty cup of coffee. The coffee has gone cold. I have not felt like finishing it.Across from me Gabriel is watching me with that look he always has when he thinks he knows something that I do not."You look like you did not sleep." "I did sleep.""Two hours is not sleep," he says.I roll my eyes. I do not argue with him.Because he is not entirely wrong. At night I barely slept. Every time I closed my eyes I saw Rachel's face again. She had this look in her eyes when she said she thought I was different from Stev

Noah's POV We had talked at times about assignments and schedules. That was it really. Just the usual campus stuff. Nothing more.Today I saw her in a different way. Gabriel's words came back to my mind. For some reason my feet moved before I could think.I stood up, walked a few steps and stopped beside the seat next to Jessica. She looked surprised.“Noah?”I pointed at the chair.“Is this seat free?”She blinked, then nodded.“Yeah it is.”I sat down. The first few seconds were awkward. I could feel people looking at us. I did not even need to turn around.Rachel must be watching. I hoped she was.Jessica glanced at me. Smiled.“You do not usually sit here.”I shrugged.“Just felt like a change.”She laughed softly.“Not a ba

Noah's POVMy heart started beating when I saw Rachel.I hesitated for a moment. Then I remembered why I started all of this with Rachel. "It's fine. I happened to bring my car today."Jessica looked surprised. "Seriously?" "Yeah." Jessica said, "Wow.” Then turned toward Rachel and Angel. "Then let's just go together." A minute later the four of us were already sitting in my car.Jessica sat in the passenger seat. Angel and Rachel sat in the seat of my car.My hands gripped the steering wheel a little tighter than usual because I was thinking about Rachel. The car felt quieter than I expected it to be with Rachel in the back.Angel was busy with her phone. Jessica occasionally commented on the song I was playing for Rachel and the others.Meanwhile Rachel stayed silent. Did not say a word to me or the others.

Noah’s POVFor a few seconds, time feels like it has slowed down.I realize my hand is still braced against the shelf, my body half shielding her. The distance between us is only a few inches.“I’m okay,” she finally says softly.I nod, but I don’t step back immediately. At that moment, all those ridiculous plans about making her jealous suddenly feel completely meaningless. I don’t care who was sitting next to me in the car. I don’t care who saw us earlier. The only thing that matters is that she’s okay.Jessica rushes over with a panicked expression. “Oh my God, I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to do that.”I finally step back, giving Rachel some space.“It’s fine,” I say shortly. But my eyes remain fixed on Rachel. I might be able to pretend to be close to anyone, but when something happens to Rachel, my body always moves first. No planning. No strategy.Just because I care.My heartbeat still hasn’t fully settled after the bookshelf incide

Noah's POV Jessica nods immediately. “Oh, right. It’s over there, right?”Rachel points toward the sign on the wall, then walks in that direction without waiting for another response.I watch her leave until she disappears around the corner. Jessica lets out a small sigh.“She seems a little strange today,” she says.I turned to her. “What do you mean?”Jessica shrugs lightly. “She usually talks more.”I don’t answer because I already know the reason, or at least part of it.Jessica looks at me for a moment as if she wants to say something else, but in the end she just gives a faint smile.“Maybe she’s tired.”“Maybe,” I say.A few minutes later Rachel walks back toward us with the same calm expression as before. We continue walking together past rows of stores that are slowly filling with evening shoppers while the lights inside the mall grow warmer as the sky outside darkens.I glance at the watch on my wrist and realize there i

Rachel’s POVI don’t know when this lunch started to feel so irritating. At first, everything was normal. We were eating pasta while Angel joked around and Jessica laughed from time to time. But the longer we sat there, the more I felt like I was sitting in the wrong seat. Or maybe I just didn’t want to see what was happening right in front of me.Jessica and Noah.Jessica has always been the kind of girl who easily attracts attention. She’s pretty, cheerful, and always knows how to make people feel comfortable. But today something felt different. They looked too close and too warm. The atmosphere between them felt more natural than it should. After we finished the pasta, the waiter came back with dessert. It was vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate sauce. Jessica immediately looked excited when she saw it.“Wow, this looks really good,” she said as she picked up her spoon.I on
