Layla's POVA hush fell over the clearing. The remaining rogues stared in stunned silence, their defiance replaced by sheer terror. Then, with a whimper, one by one, they turned tail and fled into the undergrowth.The silver wolf stood panting, blood staining its fur, its victory seemingly complete. But as it let out a triumphant howl, the full extent of its injuries became apparent.
