Carla When I arrived home, Zade was waiting in the sitting room, and the sight of him made my heart almost beat out of my chest. It seems she noticed me the same moment I did before she threw her hands up and cried out. “Mommy!” Her shrill voice filled the sitting room, and something tightened and unfurled in my chest as I stumbled forward, carelessly discarding my bag as I got close to her and took the seat beside Zade, geeky aware of his presence, and his intense eyes on me. “Hi, honey.” I whispered softly as I wrapped my arms around her middle, feeling her snuggle into my chest, her small arms coming around me. I could feel Zade’s chest burning into my arm from how thin his shirt was, but I was trying to ignore it, choosing to divide fully on Ella who seemed to be in a good mood this evening.
