Emily’s POV The car pulled up to Luca’s mom’s house. She was already waiting outside, arms spread and ready to receive Zion. “Be a good boy okay. Don’t make grandma yell.” I said, planting kisses on his cheeks. He nodded and smiled before running to her. “Nanaaaa.” He screamed as she embraced him. She loved Zion like her own. I sometimes wished my mom loved me like the way Luca’s mom loved me. I waved them goodbye before leaving the driveway. As I drove back home, thoughts of going back to New York flooded my mind. There was a high chance that I could run into Emma and Nathan. To make things worse, they were married. It wasn’t like I cared or anything. I picked up my phone and dialed Luca’s number. He answered almost immediately. Emily’s POV I stared at the clock continuously whilst waiting for Luca to come back. “He should be back by now,” I muttered to myself as I rocked my chair back and forth. He had mentioned that he was going to Nathan’s company for a meeting. I didn’t buy the idea but he wouldn’t listen. I only agreed to come back to New York for the Gala. Not for anything else. Why did I care so much? If anything, I should be happy. I grabbed a glass of water from the table and took a sip. I needed to calm down a bit. The soft click from the door unlocking distracted me from my thoughts. I looked up suddenly and eager to see if it was Luca. He stepped in, calm and collected like he always had been. I immediately stood up and walked towards him. “Welcome back. How was it?” I asked. He didn’t respond immediately. He took a deep sigh before fixing his gaze on me. “I know you’ve been dying to see me. Don’t tell me you’ve been sitting on that chair since I left.” I let out a small chuckle. Pfffft. W

Emily’s POV “Is anything the matter?” Luca’s voice cut across the hallway. “Nothing,” I answered as I walked toward him.As I walked away from Nathan, I could feel his eyes watching me closely. It made me uncomfortable. It had been three years since I last had an encounter with him. I had no idea why I still felt this way. I didn’t love him anymore. My body however, didn’t forget to respond to his touch. I took a deep breath to pull myself together. “What was he saying to you?” Luca asked. His hands were tighter on my waist. I could tell he was jealous. I took a deep breath before answering. “He wasn’t saying anything important. Let’s not talk about it.”He replied. “I don’t want him to hurt you anymore. Otherwise, I’ll break his hands.”I didn’t laugh. Neither did I respond. I knew Luca well enough to know that he’d actually do it. We got back to the main auditorium a few minutes later. Emma stood at the far end, scheming and talking to investors. I didn’t care, I just wante
