The rain poured steadily as Lily walked out of Justin’s office building, her shoes splashing in shallow puddles as she rushed toward her car. Her fingers gripped the steering wheel tighter than usual. That note, Nany’s handwriting, her sudden absence—everything pointed toward something sinister.By the time she reached Sunflower Company, her clothes were soaked, but she didn’t care. She walked straight into William’s office."We have to talk," she said, her voice urgent.William stood from behind his desk. "You went to Justin’s company, didn’t you?"She pulled the folded note from her bag and handed it to him. "I found this under her desk. It was hidden. Look what it says."William read the note silently. His jaw tightened. "She knew something."Lily sat across from him. "I think she found out something she shouldn’t have. I don’t trust anyone. And Justin said she took a holiday trip."William relaxed slightly. "That means she might be fine."Lily's voice cracked. "No, she called me a

The day unfolded with routine precision, but for Lily and William, every moment was laced with caution.William had asked his security team to pull any digital trails, security footage, and entry logs from the last time Nany had accessed Sunflower Company’s systems. What came back was puzzling: there were a few late-night logins to employee files—mostly Selena's."She wasn’t trying to steal anything," Lily murmured, reviewing the access logs. "She was... connecting dots.""Which means we follow those dots," William said, leaning over her shoulder.Their proximity was unsettling again. Lily inhaled slowly, keeping her eyes fixed on the screen. The search led them to a coffee shop near the city’s art district—the last public location where Nany was seen, according to a timestamped security camera.---They arrived in the early afternoon. The place smelled of roasted beans and fresh pastries. A young barista recognized Nany from the printed photo."Yes, she was here. Came in a few times,

The moon hung low over the William Thomas estate, casting long shadows across the manicured lawns. Inside the grand mansion, silence lingered like an unspoken truth.William poured two glasses of wine. Lily stood by the large window in the sitting room, her arms folded across her chest, watching the night stretch on. Her eyes were distant, heavy with questions, but her body—tense. Waiting."Here," William said, handing her a glass. She took it, fingers brushing his, and for a moment neither of them moved. The touch lingered. Familiar now, but still electric."You really live here all alone?" Lily asked, her voice soft."Most of the time. It never felt like home until... recently."She glanced up. "Until I barged into your world with a resume and a coffee stain on my shirt?"He smiled. "You brought chaos to my schedule. And clarity to my mind."A pause. The air shifted. He moved closer, his presence magnetic.“Lily,” he murmured, voice rough, “I can’t think straight when you’re near me

FLASHBACKThat night, William had driven like mad toward the party after Lily called. But when he arrived, the place was in chaos. Girls were panicking. Drinks were spilled, people were leaving. He called Lily's name over and over. But she was gone.He found out that one of the girls' fathers had shown up and taken the rest of them home. But before William could leave, he heard a faint scream."Help!"He ran toward the sound. Two men were forcing Natasha into a car. Her dress was torn, her hair a mess, and she was barely conscious. Without a second thought, William fought them off. His knuckles bled. One man hit him across the jaw. But he didn’t stop until Natasha was safe.Breathing heavily, he asked her where Lily was. She mumbled something, half-conscious: "She... she left... with a friend... she’s safe..."Relieved, he wrapped his shirt around Natasha’s shoulders, shielding her from the cold and from the shame. He took her to his place. She collapsed onto his bed before he could s

The sun had set, but the war hadn’t.William’s penthouse was transformed into a temporary operations room. Maps were spread across the table, digital trackers blinked on tablets, and Sofia worked tirelessly to triangulate the last signal pinged from the disposable SIM.Lily sat near the window, watching the skyline in silence. Her heart pounded as she held the photo of herself—the one they found in the abandoned house. To be watched, to be hunted... it was a fear she hadn’t known before. But now, she refused to run.Sofia stood up suddenly. “I got it,” she said, eyes sharp. “The signal came from a private yacht registered under a shell company. It's docked in the east harbor. If we go now, we might catch him before he disappears.”William didn’t wait for more. “We’re going.”The harbor was quiet, waves gently lapping against the docked boats. The moonlight cast long shadows as the three of them approached the vessel.William signaled to the two private security men flanking him. “No m
