DanteThe moment Mabel said that Autumn couldn’t make it to breakfast, I knew that she was avoiding me.It took all the self-control in me not to stand up right there and then and go to her room to ask her why she was avoiding me, but then I knew that I might fall into the temptation of having her in my arms. For the rest of the night after I returned to my bedroom, I had lived in regret. Not exactly for what we had done, but for the fact that after such unexplainable ecstasy, I had wished that I held her all through the night.“But you know that this is wrong, and if it gets out, there will be no going back,” my head had reminded my heart. And then, Autumn had skipped breakfast.I had tried to ignore the fact that she was deliberating staying away, but the thought kept gnawing at me. Every time I heard footsteps or felt like someone was coming, I always turned with speed, thinking and hoping that it would be Autumn, but every time, I had been wrong. And I knew that if I stayed in the

Dante“Dante, is that you?” Granduncle Gonzalez asked when I knocked.“You know it’s me,” I said dully. He sent for me, and he already knew that it would be me. Besides, he literally just mentioned my name.“Come in,” he said.I went into his chamber and sat down.“Why did you want to see me?” I asked.“Drinks?” He offered.“I am not in the mood for that,” I said.I was going to go to the cliff and just stay there to give myself time to think deeply about everything that had happened, and also, my conversation with my father when I got the message that he wanted to see me, and I just couldn’t put it off even if I wanted to.Granduncle Gonzalez sat down as well.“Your father and his wife have taken another trip,” he started.“Which is no business of mine,” I stated grudgingly. We all knew what happened between my dad and my mum, and now, we were all going to pretend like it never happened. I was surprised, as well as enraged, that this union happened, and granduncle Gonzalez allowed it

AutumnWhen I saw Dante going into Maria’s room after dismissing Camille so that I could confront him after what I found out, I stopped to contemplate.“Should I go ahead or not?”Reasonably, I should have turned back and left. I could always do this later even though my blood was boiling with anger and I wanted to address it now that I was feeling this way, but I didn’t. Instead, I stood there asking myself if I should go ahead or go back, and reasons for each decision.Going back was the right thing to do because obviously, Dante and Maria were trying to have couple’s moment which shouldn’t be interrupted by a woman who just slept with Dante. And then, going ahead was what I deeply and genuinely wanted to do.And that was because I was deeply jealous. After what happened between us, I couldn’t believe that Dante just continued about his business like everything was normal. He hadn’t made any attempt to see me, but here he was, spending time with Maria. Well, not like I expected him

AutumnIt was Granduncle Gonzalez, and I sighed with relief.Meanwhile, David was upset with the interruption. He probably wanted to use this opportunity of having me without Dante’s protection, but it didn’t work for him.“I came to see you,” I said hastily, stepping away from the front of David so that granduncle Gonzalez could see me.“Is he giving you a hard time?” The old man asked me, referring to David.“No, not exactly,” I lied.I didn’t want anything to delay me from having this conversation with him, and saying that David was indeed giving me a hard time might just make things a little worse. I wasn’t really sure, because it seemed that granduncle Gonzalez wasn’t a man who tolerated crap, but still, I didn’t want to try and see.“Come with me, then,” he said.He led me to his study, and somehow, I felt comfortable and relaxed in his presence. It was almost like the feeling I had with Mateo, even though I didn’t really fancy the man, but I guessed that it had something to do

DanteThere were a lot of things to do at the office and paperwork to be looked through, and I spent most of the day attending to them. My absence for some days had made me come back to a pile of work. When my phone rang and I saw that it was Maria, I sighed in exasperation.Coming here was my own way of escaping from her.I would have come sooner or later; I couldn’t have left the company just like that anyway. This was an empire that was built on legacies and family history, and it also controlled the family’s assets and properties all over the country. Even though I had capable hands who handled things, I also needed to be available to handle the ones that only I could handle.Recently, I hadn’t been coming as often as I should have because of everything that had been going on, but now that I had been forced with an opportunity, I didn’t resist it. Besides, it took my mind off a lot of troubling thoughts.I let the phone ring until it went to voicemail, but Maria started calling ba
