Jason's mom let out a soft gasp as I finished telling her everything—everything that had happened since I'd left BlueMont. She had both hands over her mouth, eyes glistening like someone trying to hold back tears or shock. "A child?" she repeated, her voice shaky. "Yes," I said, trying to keep my tone even. "Robbie Jr." Beside me, Robbie had already taken out his phone and pulled up a few photos. He handed it to her without saying anything. Jason's mom clutched it like it might slip away, then blinked down at the screen. "By the moon..." she murmured. "He's beautiful." Jason's dad, ever the silent one, leaned over and squinted. "He looks exactly like you," he said, glancing at Robbie, and then back at me. His brow furrowed. "He's about five months now," Robbie said proudly, puffing up like a rooster. "Well-behaved and serious. Just like Bonnie." "Ah, he is cute... but the age..." Jason's dad trailed off, looking at me sideways. "Jason got me pregnant," I said, calmly, firmly.
