1. The betrayal of mate

Kaliah POVThe minutes ticked by. I ignored the sound of the click, the ticking driving me mad. When I heard the sound of footsteps from afar, I turned my head around so fast that my long, tangled ebony locks smacked me in the face.It was after the door opened that I realized the footsteps belonged to Axel, a man I had thought I had once loved. Once upon a time, Axel had been my mate. We met three years ago at fifteen, the two of us young and falling quickly for one another. My father saw something in Axel, who was a rogue at the time. He wanted to give him a chance, a chance Axel never had with his trying to survive on the streets of Seattle.Things were great… until they weren’t.He instigated a rebellion, betraying my family and me. I was taken by him right away, not knowing the fate of my parents or older brother Kiran.Axel wasted no time in explaining that what he did was for the best of the wolves in Seattle. My father, the Alpha King, was old and stuck in his ways. I called h

2. We were outlaws

Kaliah POVBy the time I woke up, I realized I was on a motorcycle. A cloth belt had been wrapped around my waist to keep me secure from my brother. He must’ve felt me stirring and stopped the bike at a red light, glancing back at me.The two of us were siblings, but couldn’t look more different. I took after our mother, who was Asian, my long black hair and brown eyes a remnant of her looks. While my brother took after our father, a typical blonde-haired and blue-eyed Caucasian man.I was struck by the fact that my brother seemed very different right now. He had somehow survived and was also taking the lead, making me wonder what had changed. When we’re growing up, I was the one who took life more seriously. I loved fighting and dedicated myself to honing my body into a weapon. Meanwhile, Kiran didn’t take life that seriously. He was a playboy and a flirt, always bouncing from woman to woman. But it also meant he was a very charming man who had great social skills. I lacked social sk

3. Trouble of a Blind Girl

Kaliah POVThe door creaked open again, and I turned my head toward the sound of footsteps crunching over the wet gravel.“You two can stay,” a woman’s voice called out, dry and gravelly. “Just for the night. No funny business. And don’t go touching anything that isn’t yours.”“It’s the old lady,” Kiran whispered to me.I straightened, raising an eyebrow. “Changed your mind?”“You looked half-dead out here,” she muttered. “And I don’t like letting kids sleep in the street. Even ones with smart mouths.”Behind me, I heard Kiran inhale like he'd just been handed a golden trophy. “Thank you, ma’am. Really. You’re a lifesaver.”Oh no. I could practically hear the smugness leaking out of him.I tilted my head in his direction. “You’re grinning.”“What? No, I’m not.”“You are. I can hear it in your voice.”“Am I not allowed to be proud that my natural charisma worked?”I snorted. “She sounds old enough to be our grandmother, Kiran.”“She said I was pretty.”“She said you were a pretty liar.

4. Revenge

Kaliah POVThe two of us couldn’t stay at the inn forever. I knew that much was true.Kiran suggested we stay another week before traveling to find his friend. I agreed, but I was also aware that things could go wrong at the drop of a hat.“Tell me more about this friend of yours,” I said one evening when we were training. He chuckled. “Remember when I was traveling north? Well, while I was driving, I came across this man being attacked by a group of rogue werewolves. I jumped off my bike and helped him. This gave the guy a chance to use the Dark Moon distress signal to call for help.”My eyes widened. “You saved someone from the Dark Moon Pack?”“Not just anyone from the pack, sis. I saved the Alpha—the head of the pack. Can you fucking believe it?”I shook my head. “No, I can’t.”“Believe it, Kaliah,” he said, laughing. “After I helped him, he said he owed me a favor. Given everything that has happened over the past few weeks, I figure it’s time we cashed in on that favor.”My broth

5. My mate was blind

DamonThe air was thick with sweat and pine as I ended my training round, the last punch landing with a dull thud against the padded dummy. My knuckles stung, but the pain grounded me.About thirty minutes before, I finished my training with my warriors. They were some of the best in the Dark Moon Pack.“Alpha!” a voice called out, breathless and urgent.I turned sharply. It was one of the gate guards, wide-eyed and panting. “There’s a fight at the border. A rogue tried to force entry. She’s—” He hesitated, swallowing. “She’s handling herself.”“She?” I asked. He nodded quickly. “Not one of ours. But… sir, you need to see this.”I didn’t waste time. I jogged up the incline, boots kicking gravel as I neared the clearing near the southern wall. The scent of unfamiliar wolves hit me immediately. But it was the female’s scent that threw me off.It was strong, the faint smell of copper reaching my nostrils.Benath the strong smell of pine was the faintest whiff of something sweet—vanilla I

6. We are his

Kaliah POVThere was this pull toward Damon, and I hated it.I moved quietly through the room, tying the black ribbon around my eyes. My fingers found the knot without effort now. With a soft sigh, I reached for my boots by memory, careful not to wake Kiran.Or so I thought.A loud yawn cracked through the silence.“Seriously?” I muttered, freezing mid-lace.“Morning to you, too, sunshine,” came Kiran’s groggy voice from his room. He shifted in his bed, blankets rustling like a storm in a laundry basket.I rolled my eyes. “It’s not even light out.”“And yet here you are, acting like you’re going to war.”“I am going to war. With my balance. And possibly a few tree branches.”He chuckled, and I heard the creak of his mattress as he sat up. “You know, you could sleep in. Just once. Maybe try something radical, like rest.”“Rest doesn’t make you a warrior. Training does.”“You’re blind, not invincible,” he said, yawning again. “Go easy.”“Go back to sleep, Kiran.”He grunted, flopping ba

7. Beta's Objection

Damon POV“She’s out there again.”I didn’t even look up from my report. “Out where?”My beta, Caden, sounded bitter. Angry.“The training grounds. East clearing.”“She’s blind,” he added flatly. “But she’s out there, moving like she isn’t.”I set the report down. “And?”“She’s… fast. Too fast. You should see it for yourself.”That piqued my interest. I stood, stretching the stiffness out of my shoulders. “Fine. Let’s go.”He hesitated. “Alpha, I think you should be cautious. She’s unpredictable.”I shot him a look. “Watch your place, Caden.”His mouth snapped shut, jaw twitching. Good.“She’s my mate,” I added, brushing past him. “Not a threat.”Kalilah might want to deny it, but she was only delaying the inevitable. She was my mate. Her wolf knew it.That was all that mattered.Kalilah would come around. Eventually. Waiting for her to come around was admittedly going to get on my nerves.I would like to see to it.“You don’t know that yet.”“I know enough.”Together we walked out to

8. Bully

Kalilah POVThe scent of bleach and lavender clung to the pack house kitchen like it was trying too hard to cover something up—maybe the stench of resentment.I was just trying to keep my head down and help. Folded towels. Cleaned dishes. Stayed out of the way.It was difficult to adjust to living here. I was known as the mate of Damon, or one day would be, should the mating be made official. One person who didn’t like me was Caden. He seemed to despise me, acting like my mere presence here was just to annoy him. Then there was the woman here.I tried to be helpful.Didn’t matter. They hated me, acting like typical jealous women.I bet they all thought they had a chance with Damon, which was why they were lashing out at me the way they were. But the joke was on them. I didn’t want Damon!Well, my wolf was leaning towards him.She was stubborn, but with him being part of the Dark Moon Pack, it wasn’t possible. My pack, the Silver Moon Pack, had cut ties with them years ago. Or the Dark

9. The blind rogue

Kaliah POVI knew the moment I stepped into the common room that something was off.Damon hadn’t been gone more than a few hours, and things were already shifting. An urge to turn and leave hit me, but they’d just come after me, so there was no point.Sighing, I kept walking forward. I’d deal with whatever they were going to say and hope they’d leave me the hell alone. The air felt thick. Too quiet. Too still. My senses had sharpened since losing my sight—I could tell when people were watching, whispering, judging. And right now? They weren’t even trying to hide it.“Hey, Kaliah,” a voice called from the left. Sweet on the surface. Bitter underneath.I tilted my head. “Yeah?”“You’ve been here over a week now,” another voice chimed in—light tone, but laced with something colder. “Figured it was time we had a chat.”“About?” I asked, already not liking where this was going.“Well,” someone behind me added—three voices now, circling—“Alpha Damon’s been letting you stay here. But he’s no

10. She is rejecting me

Damon POVI hadn’t enjoyed being away from the estate for business.Had nothing to do with Kalilah. I just hated all that political bullshit. But it also did have a little something to do with it.My wolf wanted Kalilah. It was howling in despair about being away from her, and it was pissing me off, making me feel conflicted.I shouldn’t have anything to do with her. She was part of the Silver Moon Pack. Even if Axel had taken over, it didn’t change the fact that this was where her bloodline went.Grumbling, I glanced out the window and then at Caden. He had a pinched expression on his face and was likely still annoyed at me.Caden had been annoyed since I invited Kalilah and her brother to live with the pack. But didn’t he understand? I had a debt to pay back to Kiran, and with Kalilah being my mate, it was something I felt I had to do.I knew it was going to cause problems with the pack. It was already causing problems. But to let her go? I didn’t think I could do it.I rubbed the b
