Chasing the Alpha I Once Rejected のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 21 - チャプター 30

‎Selene returned home later in the afternoon with the heaviness still clinging to her chest.‎‎The talk with Aiden at the park and her drinking at the local bar had done nothing to fix her frustration, only adding to it. ‎‎Aiden’s kindness had not fixed anything. If anything, it made her feel worse. Not that Aiden himself was the problem, Selene knew he'd tried his best to offer her the comfort she sought. However, since she hadn't fully divulged the meat of the matter to him, he could only offer so much. ‎‎Regardless, Selene was still pissed off, even though she knew she was being quite unreasonable. The fact Aiden had tried to take advantage of her emotional state to kiss her was just so irritating. ‎‎And the bar? Selene didn't even want to talk about it. She regretted ever deciding to go drink as she now felt highly sensitive towards the matter. She felt like she could pounce on and tear Clara to pieces of she saw her now. Her head felt somewhat heavy, and she felt like she

‎The next day, Liam woke up really angry. He didn’t know why at first. ‎‎The feeling sat heavy in his chest the moment his eyes opened, like something pressing down on him. The argument from yesterday replayed in fragments inside his head.‎‎His mother yelling; Melinda shouting; Ivy standing there. ‎‎But what struck him the most was the way Ivy had looked when she left with Melinda.‎‎' I am your mother. And from this moment, your friendship with Ivy is over!' Liam pushed the blanket away and sat up abruptly. ‎‎He didn’t want to be here. He didn't want to see his mother. ‎‎Liam dressed quickly, barely glancing at the clock, pulling on his uniform with rough, impatient movements. ‎‎Downstairs, the house smelled faintly of coffee and toast. Clara was already on the couch, scrolling through her phone while chewing on something sweet. Selene stood near the counter, staring into a cup of coffee as if the dark liquid might answer something for her.‎‎Neither of them noticed Lia

‎Selene turned back to Liam.“Don't give in, Liam. I'm going to get help,” she said quickly.‎‎Clara who had silently watched behind Selene asked,“Who?”‎‎Selene hesitated only a second.“Kyle.” Selene forced a reassuring smile, though her chest tightened painfully as she said the words, "I’ll be right back.”‎‎Liam nodded again, though his body still trembled.‎‎Selene rushed out of the room. Clara behind her as they descended the stairs.‎‎Selene didn’t stop on her rush until she reached downstairs and grabbed her phone with shaking hands. She didn't care that she had Kyle had been at odds for a while now, Liam's safety was all that mattered. Selene pressed the call button when she found Kyle's number. ‎‎The ringing seemed endless. Once, twice, three times.‎‎Her anxiety grew with every second that passed. Liam's struggle etched in her mind, putting her in distress. What if he doesn’t answer? The thought stabbed through her chest. ‎‎Maybe this was karma. Maybe the way she ha

After leaving Selene's that night, Kyle drove home in silence.‎‎The night road stretched endlessly ahead, illuminated only by the pale beams of his headlights. The forest passed by in dark blurs on the road side.Normally, he enjoyed the quiet.‎‎But for some reason, tonight it felt… heavier.‎‎His hands tightened slightly on the steering wheel as a thought echoed in his mind, 'Why did I go?'‎‎The question had been circling in his head since he left Selene’s house. He could have ignored her call. He had every reason to.‎‎After everything that happened between them… after the way she treated him in the past… after the choices she made. Wasn't he seeking revenge? So why was he helping?‎‎Kyle exhaled slowly. ' I swore to have my revenge when I heard she got back in town. Yet, the moment her voice came through the phone, panicked and desperate, I hadn’t even hesitated.' He had simply said:"I’ll be right there."‎‎Why?‎‎Kyle scoffed softly to himself.“Don’t lie to yourself, Kyl

‎Upstairs, after Selene left Liam alone to go make breakfast, the room seemed to go still. Only the faint sound of utensils came from downstairs.‎‎Liam lay back against his pillows, staring at the ceiling. For some reason, everything felt strange.‎‎Not awful, but just strange.‎‎It felt like he'd just awoken after a nightmare he couldn’t fully remember. ‎‎Liam lifted his hand slowly, turning it in front of his face. His palm and fingers were just as he remembered now. There were no claws, and no furs growing out on his arms.‎‎His bones weren't snapping, nor did he feel any pain. It felt like none of that had happened.‎‎But Liam remembered. He remembered the forest, how he'd rushed towards it in the night. ‎‎He remembered the crazed hunger he had for flesh and blood. ‎‎The way everything had felt too loud, too strong, too overwhelming.‎‎Liam swallowed.‎‎“That was… weird,” he muttered softly to himself.‎‎He didn’t dwell on it too much. He was still a kid, after all.
