Upstairs, after Selene left Liam alone to go make breakfast, the room seemed to go still. Only the faint sound of utensils came from downstairs.Liam lay back against his pillows, staring at the ceiling. For some reason, everything felt strange.Not awful, but just strange.It felt like he'd just awoken after a nightmare he couldn’t fully remember. Liam lifted his hand slowly, turning it in front of his face. His palm and fingers were just as he remembered now. There were no claws, and no furs growing out on his arms.His bones weren't snapping, nor did he feel any pain. It felt like none of that had happened.But Liam remembered. He remembered the forest, how he'd rushed towards it in the night. He remembered the crazed hunger he had for flesh and blood. The way everything had felt too loud, too strong, too overwhelming.Liam swallowed.“That was… weird,” he muttered softly to himself.He didn’t dwell on it too much. He was still a kid, after all.
